Farrah Turner Foundation 5K Join us on Saturday, April 11, 2026, for the 7th Annual Farrah Turner Foundation 5K, a heartfelt event honoring the life and legacy of Investigator Farrah Turner. Farrah’s courage and devotion to protecting her community left an indelible mark on Florence, South Carolina, and beyond. This event is a chance to unite in remembrance, celebrate her legacy, and support the mission she inspired: to protect and serve children who are victims of sexual assault. The Story Behind the RaceOn October 3, 2018, our small community was shaken when Investigator Farrah Turner and six other officers were ambushed in Florence, SC. Farrah’s bravery and tenacity were evident as she fought for her life for 19 days before passing away on October 22, 2018. To honor her memory, the Farrah Turner Foundation was established to carry forward her passion for helping children in need. The City of Florence Employee Wellness Program and Florence Track Club have partnered to bring you the 11th Annual Flo-Town 5K Run/Walk. The certified course will begin at the City's Waste Water Management Facility quickly accessing the Florence Trail System's Freedom Florence Connections. These trails, located in East Florence, make up approximately 8 miles of the City's Trail system. The course is comprised of natural beauty and history adjacent to the tranquil Jeffries Creek and the Florence Stockade. The Stockade and neighboring National Cemetery developed during the Civil War, and veterans from all wars since that time have been, and are still being, interred here. Runners and walkers will follow a natural path that winds through the woods adjacent to Jeffries Creek, across boardwalks, around the Freedom Florence pond, and return to trails near the old site of the Florence Stockade. Dust off your favorite cape and lace up your running (or walking) shoes and become a superhero for abused children through CAPES for Kids!  Overview CAPES for Kids is an annual 5K|10K & Kids Fun Run, held in honor of a 3-year old Carver Elementary School student, who lost her life due to physical abuse and neglect in 2011. Formerly known as the Carver C.A.P. Run, this event strives to honor her life, and the lives of children like her, while also raising awareness and support for victims of child abuse in our local community. Panting for Paws 5K, 10K & Virtual Run Join us for the 8th Annual Panting for Paws 5K and 10K at West Florence High School. There will be finisher medals, music, food, and activities for the kids. Come help us support the homeless dogs & cats in our community.  All proceeds go toward helping the homeless dogs and cats of The Darlington County Humane Society Shelter and The Florence Area Humane Society. Pace yourself! Enter the Naturally Outdoors 2 & 4 Hour Endurance Race to put yourself to the test. With a 2.5 mile loop around Florence's Soccer Complex, this is a great course to set goals, show up, and challenge yourself. The winner of this event will COMPLETE the most laps around the course before the clock runs out.  We're adding a rucking division to this year's race!
