Started in 2014, the mission of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Honor Run Half Marathon is simple; to honor those who have served us! All proceeds from the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Honor Run Half Marathon, 10K Run/Walk, and 5K Run/Walk are donated to Honor Flight Tri State to help send our local Veterans who have served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam to Washington DC for the day to see the memorials that they have earned. Over the last 10 years, we have had the privilege of donating roughly $430,000 to Honor Flight Tri State to help send 800 of our local veterans to Washington DC. Run across the Tennessee River on historic Wilson Dam and return on the Singing River Bridge. Course USATF Certified 10K Course: AL16012JE The 10K course begins at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center in Florence, AL, and proceeds across Wilson Dam and then onto a portion of the paved TVA nature trail. It continues back across the Tennessee River via the pedestrian walkway on the Singing River Bridge, and then a short distance through a residential area to the finish back at the conference center. There will be a 90-minute time limit to complete the course. Please do not enter if you cannot maintain at least a 14:30 pace per mile. Due to courseconstraints there will be no wheelchair division. The City of Florence Employee Wellness Program and Florence Track Club have partnered to bring you the 11th Annual Flo-Town 5K Run/Walk. The certified course will begin at the City's Waste Water Management Facility quickly accessing the Florence Trail System's Freedom Florence Connections. These trails, located in East Florence, make up approximately 8 miles of the City's Trail system. The course is comprised of natural beauty and history adjacent to the tranquil Jeffries Creek and the Florence Stockade. The Stockade and neighboring National Cemetery developed during the Civil War, and veterans from all wars since that time have been, and are still being, interred here. Runners and walkers will follow a natural path that winds through the woods adjacent to Jeffries Creek, across boardwalks, around the Freedom Florence pond, and return to trails near the old site of the Florence Stockade.
