Hi, my name is Nathan Chamot, I’m 18 years old, and I’m the organizer of the second annual Run for Tourette 5K, a charity run and walk that raises money for the Tourette Association of America! I founded the Run for Tourette 5K because I have Tourette Syndrome, and I don’t want others to face the same barriers I did growing up with the disorder. In 2025, the 5K set a new national fundraising record for events raising money for Tourette Syndrome—the event raised over $33,000, and I hope to surpass that this year! With your help, we can fund the Tourette Association of America’s critical efforts to support the Tourette community through research, spreading awareness, and educating professionals about Tourette’s. You can help by registering as a participant, donating to our cause, or, if you own a business, sponsoring our event! I hope to see you there! If you would like to learn more about the Tourette Association of America, please go to Tourette.org

It gives these athletes the opportunity to compete on an international stage, gain valuable championship experience, proudly represent Nepal, and increase the visibility of Nepal’s growing trail-running community throughout Asia and beyond. I was fortunate and honored to accompany six Nepali athletes to the inaugural APTRC in South Korea in 2024. Team Nepal delivered an outstanding performance. Priya Rai finished 2nd in the 40KM, while Man Kumar Roka Magar finished 5th in the 80KM. Tirtha Tamang, Gopal Tamang, Tilak Sunuwar, and Rashila Tamang also performed extremely well, helping Nepal make a strong impression at the first-ever Asian Trail Running Championship. Now, a new group of athletes has the opportunity to continue that journey. It is their turn to carry Nepal’s name on their backs, compete alongside some of the strongest trail runners in Asia, and demonstrate the remarkable talent, endurance, and potential that exists within Nepal’s trail-running community. Why We Are Fundraising To help make this opportunity possible, we are organizing an In-Person and Virtual 5K Fundraising Run in support of the eight athletes traveling to China for APTRC 2026. Funds raised through this campaign will help cover essential travel-related expenses, including: Round-trip airfare to and from ChinaVisa application and processing expensesLocal transportation while in ChinaNutrition Support While in China Our goal is to reduce the financial burden placed on these athletes so they can concentrate on what matters most: preparing for the championship, competing at their highest level, and representing Nepal with pride. The AIA Cincinnati Urban Design 5K Walk/Run celebrates the connection between healthy people and healthy urbanism. Our mission is to celebrate urban design that makes walking, running, and everyday physical activity safe, enjoyable, and accessible to everyone. By bringing architects, designers, community leaders, businesses, and residents together through a new annual 5K, we aim to demonstrate how well-designed communities, parks, and public spaces can encourage active lifestyles and strengthen community well-being. Physical activity plays an important role in reducing the risk and impact of major health challenges, including hypertension, diabetes, and mental health conditions. Good urbanism can help people make healthy choices part of everyday life by creating communities where people feel comfortable walking, jogging, connecting with others, and spending time outdoors. Through this new annual event, we seek to celebrate urbanism as a public-health tool, raise awareness about the relationship between the built environment and wellness, and inspire continued investment in healthier, more walkable communities throughout Greater Cincinnati. A portion of the proceeds from the 5K will go to the Bettman Legacy Fund - a grant program administered by the AIA Ohio Foundation for AIA Cincinnati to support projects that enrich the urban environment in southwest Ohio.
