Rocket City Marathon Race Weekend – Huntsville, Alabama   For over 49 years, the Rocket City Marathon, organized by the Huntsville Track Club, has been one of the premier marathon events in the South. The weekend kicks off with the Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pickup, opening Friday, December 11th, at 2:00 PM and running through Saturday, December 12th at 6:00 PM.   Saturday Races  10K – Starts at 7:00 AM in front of the Von Braun Center on Monroe Street. This flat, fast, and walker-friendly course takes runners through Old Town  5K – Begins at 9:00 AM, winding through Downtown Huntsville 1 Mile Family Friendly FUN RUN/WALK – Starts at 10:30 AM, offering everyone  a fun and rewarding experience.   Sunday – Marathon & Half Marathon Day  The Rocket City Marathon - Kicks off at 7:00 AM (with an early start at 6:00 AM for those requiring extra time). Race Information Decatur's first ever marathon, and on a micro-marathon course!  We are excited to host the first full distance marathon on a course that is fast and USATF certified.  We will also host a 10K and 5K event on the same day on flat, fast race courses.  All net proceeds from this event go to the Decatur High School Track and Field team to support their upcoming race season. The marathon will be a loop and athletes will run six loops of the course that runs through Point Mallard Park.  Course map and USATF Certification are on the website at the course map link below.  There will be a 6 hour time limit with a cutoff occurring for anyone that is not through the halfway by the 3 hour mark, or 11 AM.   Awards Age group and overall awards will be available for the marathon, 10K and 5K, and the USATF certification and the course meeting B.A.A. standards will allow athletes to qualify for Boston, Chicago or New York Marathons.  All marathon finishers will receive a finishers m

Race Day- February 20, 2027 Event Location- Spain Park High School The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Kids Marathon is not a Fun Run. Even though it will be fun, it is an innovative five month endurance building running/walking program designed for children kindergarten (K5) through 5th grade. Children will run the distance of a full marathon (26.2 miles) over the course of the five month program. To achieve this goal, kids must train for the last mile of their marathon by running a total of 25.2 miles in 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 3/4 mile or 1 mile increments between September 2026 through February 2027 to qualify for race day participation. There are NO official winners, but the event is timed so your child can chart their progress from the beginning of their training in September until race day. Our motto is "if you had fun you won"!!! The We Run This Beach Marathon will be a beautiful , fast and scenic course with gorgeous views of Lake Shelby, Middle & Little Lake’s. The course will start and finish near the Gulf State Park Lodge and traverse the pancake flat paved paths throughout Gulf State Park. The Boston or Bust Marathon will be an extremely flat and fast course along Aldridge Creek and Tennessee River in South Huntsville. The course will start and finish at Ditto Landing Marina and is entirely on the Alridge Creek Greenway.  We will have Chip Timing and both half and full marathon courses will be certified.  ..And then there's the post race party. We will have post race food for all finishers, 2 drink tickets, post race music, all at the Ditto Landing Marina Pavilion.
