Run Like a King 5K 2026

Quakertown, PA
WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE SUPPORT We’re excited to host our 2nd annual 5K this October! This rain-or-shine event is perfect for individuals and families alike, welcoming everyone from casual walkers to enthusiastic runners in Quakertown Borough on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Connect with local fire departments and law enforcement, who will be on-site in support of Fire Safety Awareness Month. It’s a great opportunity to stay active, support a good cause, and learn more about keeping your home and loved ones safe. This initiative aims to raise funds for our non-profit organization, King Family Memorial Foundation, Inc. (KFMF), which was established in response to a tragic event that occurred in Quakertown on Christmas morning in 2021. The King family, residing in Quakertown, faced a devastating house fire; while Kristin and Brady were lucky to survive, Eric (the father), along with their children, Liam and Patrick, tragically did not escape, nor did their dogs, Darla and Maggie. Our mission is to provide assistance and support to those who have experienced the unimaginable loss of spouses, parents, children, and siblings due to house fires. We also aim to help those who have lost their homes and are left with only the clothes on their backs. Additionally, we want to educate the children in our community and surrounding areas about fire safety, ensuring they know how to react in such terrifying situations. Every entry fee and every dollar raised goes directly to the Wounded Warrior Project, supporting veterans facing the toughest fights of their lives long after they've come home. The morning opens with the national anthem, a moment of recognition at the park's veterans memorial, and words from a Wounded Warrior Project veteran. Then it's a 5K and Kids Dash for the whole family, with a finish-line celebration to send everyone off with the same message we started with: no one gets left behind.

Frick & Frack 5k

Virginia Beach, VA
Grab your friends, family, survivors, previvors, and caretakers and join us for a beautiful morning of love, prayer, fellowship, and fun! Oh...and a 5k run/walk + kid's dash! This is a FUN run/walk and not a timed event. The Frick & Frack Story: In 2017, we held our 1st Annual Frick & Frack 5K benefiting two wonderful sisters in our Hampton Roads community named Pattie and Jackie... affectionately know as Frick & Frack. They were both diagnosed with breast cancer in the same year and we were able to come together and help them in a beautiful way. The story doesn't end there. A few months after that race, Pattie’s daughter Lyndsey was also diagnosed with her second round of Breast Cancer. Yes...you read that right. Within less than a year, the same family had been struck 3 times! All 3 women are SURVIVORS today, and along with their framily and community, these women have set out on a crusade to take care of others, just as they were cared for during their battle. They have appropriately adopted the slogan...Her fight is our fight. All proceeds from this event stay local and will benefit the Free Range Sisters Foundation. This foundation is set-up to assist our local female warriors with a variety of needs to include: medical connections and assistance, transportation, and our beloved comfort baskets for those healing from surgery and/or chemotherapy/radiation treatment. It has been our privilege to also walk alongside each of our warriors and help them with other needs such as general moral support, household care and financial assistance. Until there is a cure for these cancers, we will always have someone in need! By supporting this event, you are directly enabling our community to step up and fight together. Her fight is OUR fight! CHEERS! We hope you will join us for the Frick & Frack FRAMILY race!

Project SOAR was designed to address the critical period immediately following rehabilitation or incarceration. Research shows that individuals are 80% more likely to overdose in this critical period due to the nature of returning to their environment, relationships, careers, and circumstances that they were in while using. SOAR works to eliminate the stressors and triggers that could lead to relapse. The certified team at Verdun utilizes our thirty-three element challenge course to build community among our participants teaching healthy communication, leadership skills, resilience, and collaboration. Project SOAR also takes a comprehensive approach to promoting health. Participants engage in a nutrition workshop led by The Virginia Cooperative Extension office, physical training each day, yoga workshops, breathing workshops, and more. These workshops are designed to create multiple avenues to long term mental, emotional and physical health. Additionally, this program introduces participants to healthy hobbies like kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, woodworking, disc golf, and others with the purpose of providing lifelong healthy activities for participants to engage in. Project SOAR is a collaborative program with several other organizations involved. For example, Hope Water Wellness provides art therapy sessions for participants, Rappahannock Goodwill Industries provides career coaching, and the Remington Community Garden provides gardening education. Through these partnerships Verdun provides a comprehensive approach to empowerment in recovery giving participants several tools to engage with in order to achieve Success and Overcome Adversity while in Recovery.
