Medal Madness 5K, 10K, 13.1M at Vancouver, WA (44)

Vancouver, WA
US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. EMS is not stationed on site, and water stations are limited to the finish area at the end of each lap and at the race finish. Please plan for the weather, bring anything you may want between laps, and check in with race staff if you need help. View Race Course, Results, and Race Information on the US Road Running race page.

There is prize money for this event! Additionally, the 5k race serves as the first ever USATF PNTF Youth Trail Championship! This was put together by the PNW Youth Trail Project and is the final race of the inaugural PNW YTP Race Series. Both championship races require participants to be members of the USATF organization - you'll need your USATF member number when registering for a championship race. For more information about how to become a USATF member, click here. Please note - the championship races are optional. Anyone can run the 5k or 14.5mi races without being in the USATF PNTF championship. However, if you want that extra shot of competition, prize money (14.5 mile only), and possible bragging rights, become a USATF member today! Safety Guidelines If you have had COVID-19 symptoms in the last 10 days or have known exposure to someone with COVID-19, please skip this race. We Run on Native Land We acknowledge that our running opportunities are built on the purposeful removal of Native peoples, who have been the stewards of Seattle-area lands for thousands of years. Thus, we accept our ethical responsibility for the ongoing stewardship of the land and purposeful support of Native neighbors, colleagues, businesses, and tribes. The Muckleshoot, Duwamish, Stillaguamish, Snoqualmie, and Coast Salish are the Natives of the lands we run on. Photo Consent I understand and accept that photos/videos/illustrations may be taken of me and/or my personal property while attending/participating in Seattle Running Club (SRC) events/functions. I acknowledge and agree that such photographs or other illustrations may be used by SRC and its related entities for advertising and promotional purposes in any medium, without compensation to me. If you would prefer not to have a particular photo used, let us know and we’ll do our best to remove it right away. A Greener Event: Cup Free Again, this year the series is continuing to reduce the amount of trash created during the event. We ask that runners bring a refillable water container with them on the trail to use at aid stations along the way and post-race. Our friends at Seven Hills Running, Fleet Feet Sports Seattle (Capitol Hill and Ballard), and Snoqualmie Running have a variety of hydration products. Race Information Thanks to runners like you, the Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series has raised over $250,000 for King County Parks and contributed hundreds of hours of trail work. Join Seattle Running Club and Northwest Trail Runs in carrying this legacy forward and making this 21st annual event bigger and better than ever! Just 15 minutes from Seattle, King County's Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park is one of the most popular training grounds for area trail runners and the Seattle Running Club. The course builds on itself throughout the series and brings runners through a lush forest of fern-lined single-track trails, over hills and along marshes and wetland habitats. This is a great series to supplement the training regime for a fall marathon or ultra. Cougar Mountain features rolling hills, a few moderate climbs, and a few steep but short inclines. The summer Short Series and Long Series races are held on the 2nd Saturday of May, June, July, and August. The Fall races are held on the last Sunday in October. Series standings are updated after each month's races and everyone competing in each successive distance is eligible for Series awards. There is a participant cap and the races tend to sell out, so register early! There are NO REFUNDS! Seattle Running Club Discount If you are a member of Seattle Running Club, you should have received a discount code for 20% in the newsletter. You will need to provide your member number if you use this discount code. There are also many other discounts and benefits for being a member of the Seattle Running Club. No Dogs As much as we love our four-legged friends and family members, we are not allowed to have dogs at our event. Very important announcement: Dogs are not allowed on the course due to USATF Sanctioning and Insurance Requirements. Despite the park's policy on dogs on leashes being acceptable, USATF has determined dogs on course cause a potentially unsafe environment for participants and spectators. We love our dogs and remember Scott's dog Jack attending Cougar races for years and years. But we want to continue hosting races for years to come and need to abide by the USATF rules. Awards The top 3 Men, Women, and Nonbinary Runners in each event will receive a podium prize. Our August 14.5-Mile Race will serve as the USATF PNTF championships. There will be prize money for this event. Prize money will be announced as we get closer to this event.

The Hourglass Challenge | Seattle

Seattle, WA
RACE THE HOURGLASS Welcome to the amazing Hourglass Challenge! Bring your friends—or come ready to make some. The Toughest Alive crew is bringing an absurdly fun, social endurance challenge to Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. The distance stays the same. The clock gets shorter. Run, walk, ruck, carry, or take on Hybrid—then meet back at the starting line to catch your breath, cheer each other on, and go again. You don’t have to be the fastest. Just come find out how many rounds you’ve got. *Photos shown are from other Toughest Alive events and represent the atmosphere and experience you can expect.* Kids Race Too! We want the whole family to have a place on this starting line. Kids can compete in their own youth divisions in Run, Ruck, Hybrid, and Walk. The format is the same: the same loops, the same horn, the same shrinking rounds, and the same chance to see what happens when they keep showing up. The only difference is the required weight in the youth Ruck divisions: - Adult men: 30 lb - Adult women: 20 lb - Youth ages 12–17: 15 lb, not to exceed 15% of bodyweight - Youth under age 12: 8 lb or 15% of bodyweight, whichever is less. Ruck requirements are dry weight and do not include the pack, water, food, or other consumable supplies. Rucks may be weighed before, during, or after the event. Choosing Run, Hybrid, or Walk? No added weight is required. Every athlete under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the required waiver. That parent or guardian must remain onsite and reachable throughout the event. Youth athletes may complete their loops independently. Choose Your Hourglass: RUN — Complete a 2-mile loop each round. HYBRID — Complete a 2-mile loop, then perform 10 judged burpees in the marked Hybrid zone at the start/finish. Your round is complete when the judge counts your 10th valid burpee before the horn. RUCK — Complete a 1-mile loop each round wearing a backpack or weight vest with the required weight. CARRY -- Haul the prescribed weight 0.5 miles carrying it; either hand, both hands, zercher/front carry, left shoulder then right shoulder: anyway except wearing it. Bring a kettlebell, bring a sandbag, bring a pail of sand, it doesn't matter. Bring what you want to haul: 50 lbs for men; 35 lbs for women. WALK — For those in the earlier stages of their fitness journey, join us and walk! Complete a 1-mile loop each round. Several ways to take it on. The same shrinking clock. The same opportunity to make one more. Beat the Hourglass Clock Round 1 gives you 30 minutes. Round 2 gives you 29. Round 3 gives you 28. Round 4 gives you 27. Every new round is one minute shorter than the round before it. Finish your loop before the horn and whatever time remains belongs to you. Catch your breath. Eat something. Drink something. Sit down. Make questionable calculations about future rounds. Then get back on the line. You cannot start the next round early. Everyone waits together at the start/finish line until the horn sounds. That horn ends the current round and starts the next one. Leave before it sounds and the round does not count. That shared reset is one of the reasons people love the Hourglass: it is almost impossible to do this event without accidentally making new friends. In a normal 10K, the race starts, everybody spreads out, and you may never see the same people again. Here, every round brings you back to the same start/finish line with the same fun, tired, determined people. You catch your breath together, compare questionable strategies, encourage one another, and then head out again when the horn sounds. Miss the cutoff and your Hourglass is complete. No shame. No minimum. Your finish is the distance you earned before the clock caught you. WHAT TO EXPECT Expect a welcoming home base, aid-station support, music, community, a repeatable course, plenty of encouragement, and one increasingly rude clock. Bring your normal fuel, hydration, clothing, and endurance gear. Every round returns you to the same start/finish area, so your supplies and your people are never far away. Friends and family are encouraged to come watch. Bring a chair, cheer people through the horn, and make some noise. You may arrive planning to spectate and leave wondering why you didn't register. HOW DIVISIONS ARE WON Run, Walk, Ruck, and Hybrid each crown its own last athlete standing. Youth athletes compete within their own published youth divisions—not against adults. If every remaining athlete in a division misses the same horn, the athlete who travels farthest during that round wins. MAKE IT YOUR RACE Maybe your goal is 10 miles. Maybe it is your first half marathon. Maybe you want 20, 30, or more. Maybe you came to be the last athlete standing. Maybe you honestly have no idea. Perfect. Take the first round. Then earn the next one. The strategy changes as the day goes on. Move too hard early and you may pay for it later. Leave yourself too little margin and the horn may end your day. You will have to decide when to push, when to eat, and how much rest you can afford. Eventually, endurance becomes a conversation with the clock. Truthfully, the strategy changes every round! GENEROUS ENCOURAGEMENT Toughest Alive is built on the simple truth that the toughest thing is to show up every day. And we believe that strong competition and GENEROUS ENCOURAGEMENT belong on the same starting line. Cheer for the leader. Cheer for the athlete chasing a personal record. Cheer even louder for the person coming around the corner with seconds left. The field gets smaller. The cheering section gets bigger. There is one thing I can absolutely guarantee: Brooke, Dossie, Sophia and I will be cheering for you, playing your "hype song" and talking you into going further -- and so will everyone else at this really fun event. SHOW UP There is no perfect pace. There is no magic number of rounds. There is only the next one. The distance stays the same. The clock gets shorter. You keep showing up until the clock finally catches you. And [spoiler alert] the clock will win the Hourglass. No human ever will. But everyone leaves laughing, with new friends, having gotten "picked off" by the clock at some point. Are you game to RACE THE HOURGLASS?

Whether it's a 5K, 10K, half-marathon, or virtual run, you'll get the warmth of a hometown event. Overview: Spots sell out FAST! We close each wave the moment it fills. Once a wave sells out, you can grab the virtual run option or join the waitlist. This is a smaller, private group run with a capped field per wave - so it never feels crowded, and you're never just a bib number. All paces and ages welcome (under 18 with a guardian) - run it, walk it, however you like! There's no gear, no setup, no fuss - just you, the course, and our coordinators cheering you on in a relaxed, stress-free setting. When you sign up, you're not just registering for a race - you're getting real support toward your fitness goals, plus an invite to join one of our local run clubs to keep the momentum going. Timing: Optional! Track your own time via Strava, RunKeeper, Nike Run, or similar, then submit it through our easy online form to get posted. Or just ask a coordinator to help time you. No timing chips - this is about progress, not pressure. What You Get (Swag Bag): - Running T-shirt (shipped to your address - US only) - Finisher's medal - Virtual Training Run (emailed to you a month before your run) - Online results & certificate of completion - Invitation to join a local running club - NEW: Upgrade to a lightweight, moisture-wicking technical shirt for just $5 more Packet Pickup? Gobbler 5K, 10K, & 13.1M at Camas, WA (46)

Camas, WA

Never Ending Nolte 6-Hour

Enumclaw, WA
What is it? A 6-Hour race around scenic Nolte State Park, featuring a 1.4 mile loop course. With minimal elevation gain, crushed gravel/packed dirt terrain, and few roots and rocks, this course is and accessible to every level of runner/walker. It's also pretty speedy for those looking to chase 50k PRs. Yes, it is November and the weather may be awful, but that's all part of the fun. Half sufferfest and half party, NEN is a celebration of running and the fellowship it creates. This year, we will be waiving registration fees and accepting optional donations to benefit the Washington Trail Association (WTA). So come get loopy, make friends, and support a good cause. This event is more about building community than competition, but prizes will be awarded to the top male, female, and non-binary athletes. Additional Information There will be an aid station stocked with water, electrolytes, and a limited amount of traditional ultra running snacks. Participants are encouraged to bring something to contribute to the aid station if they have the means to do so. Bringing your own reusable cup is also highly appreciated.Nolte has a large parking lot and road parking is also permitted. The gate to the park opens at 8am and a Discover Pass is required. No running with dogs-Unfortunately, while the park allows dogs, our insurance does not. Dogs may be present, if they are leashed and minded by someone besides the runner, but they cannot run with participants during the race.Pacing-It is a public park and friends and family can be on the course with you, but please be respectful of other visitors. If the park is crowded (unlikely during November, but you never know), please don't run with a large entourage.Permitting for this event is still in process, but should be approved (per the park ranger). In the event NEN does not receive permitting, everyone will have the opportunity to recoup their donations.
