Welcome to the Fittest on the Farm Virtual 5K/10K – Run, Walk or Ruck! 🌾🍎 Hosted by CrossFit 605 and The Herd Health & Wellness, this virtual extension of Fittest on the Farm gives you the chance to take on the challenge from wherever you are, anytime through October 31, 2026. Whether you're an experienced runner, a seasoned rucker, a casual walker, or just looking for a new challenge, this event is for YOU. The race is exactly what it says a DASH!   We will be running on the bike trail which is a short warm up walk to the bike trail from Cherapa Place with our headquarters being at Queen City Bakery.   Come dressed for fun! A sweet prize goes to the winner of the best costume! There will be penguins or flags along the course for markings and there will be signs at the turn around for each distance.

This year's event will benefit the Beresford Athletic Booster Club and other worthwhile causes in the Beresford community. Packet pick-up will be at the Beresford High School prior to the race on Saturday morning starting at 8:00am and ending 30 mins before race time. The River Rat Run started in 2009 to honor SFC Rich Schild, who gave his life on December 4, 2005, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rich was devoted to his family, friends, and community, and this event carries on his legacy by donating all race proceeds to local nonprofit organizations. Participants can choose from a 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon, each on a scenic, chip-timed course with video and manual iPad backup through the Lewis and Clark Lake Recreation Area. The route follows newly paved trails that wind through wooded landscapes along the shores of Lewis and Clark Lake and Lake Yankton, with two brief grass connectors between trail sections. Runners enjoy panoramic lake views, abundant wildlife, and, in winter, the chance to spot majestic bald eagles.
