Tour de Blount

Maryville, TN
The Tour de Blount was started by three cyclists back in 1991. They loved cycling and knew that the Blount County area was one of the best areas to ride. This was well before the day of organized bike rides, triathlons and road races. The TdB was to be the first bike ride in the area. The Tour de Blount quickly caught on and it became a popular event among cyclists, in part because Blount County and its rural back roads, ever-changing terrain and beautiful scenery is considered one of the best places to ride in the country.  The Foothill Striders Club is now responsible for hosting the TdB each year. The Striders are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting community service and healthy lifestyles through hiking, biking and running. The proceeds from the Tour de Blount go to support two scholarships for area high school students and to promote health and wellness in Blount County.  For 2023 the Tour de Blount will have three routes 25, 50 and 75.  For most of its 31 year histor

26th Annual Memorial Day Dash 5k a Virtual Race*

Nashville, TN
Benefiting the Nashville City Cemetery Association's preservation efforts and educational outreach, the 26th Annual Memorial Day Dash will be unique in that you may participate from anywhere, and you won't even have to get up early. In fact, if it is raining, you may even choose to run on a treadmill at your local Y or gym. If you DO wish to run to the cemetery from your house or another location, we will have refreshments at the Keeble Building for runners and walkers between 9 and 11:30 am, with a 30 minute Memorial Day ceremony beginning at 11:00. There is no better way to kick off summer than with the Memorial Day Dash, a longstanding Nashville tradition that supports an important and beloved Nashville landmark.  *Why virtual? Construction at Fort Negley Park to implement Phase I of the Master Plan will disrupt the 5k course, as well as creating many other unknowns. We decided in January that a virtual race would be the best way to keep the Dash going under these circumstan

Sgt David Hierholzer Memorial Day 50k

College Grove, TN
The Fallen Warrior Foundation is deeply honored to host the 8th annual Sgt David Hierholzer Memorial Day 50k. On Memorial Day, we will embark together as a unit to run the 32-ish miles across Marshall County—from the north county line to the south county line. The group typically averages around 10-10:30 minutes per mile pace stopping every 3-5 miles to regroup. Please understand this run is not a race. It is a journey. It is a journey to honor and remember those who have sacrificed everything to purchase and protect our freedom. Seven years ago, a single man set out to honor his best friend who was killed in action. The journey to remember on foot began to resonate with many across the county. Just as one man’s sacrifice saved many, one person’s desire to never forget that sacrifice created a rippling effect. Participants have multiplied exponentially each year since the first trek across the county. There are four ways to run on Memorial Day with us: 1) run the full distance 32 miles
