And if you’re trying to fundraise, there’s nothing like selling Pins at Kentucky Derby Festival events. Each group that volunteers get a percentage of overall Pin sales. If your group covers an entire shift, they could make a minimum of $1,000! On top of that, every volunteer will receive free perks, including snacks, drinks, t-shirts, and volunteer Pins. Butler of Kentucky, who fought in the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War. The park was built on the grounds of the Butler family farm, which was begun by General Butler’s father, Percival Butler, who fought in the Revolutionary War. Still standing is the Butler-Turpin House, which was built in 1859 for Mary Eleanor Butler, niece of General Butler, and her husband Philip Turpin. Today, the Butler-Turpin House is a museum open for guided tours, featuring pieces from the family’s history. Big news this year: Light The Night 5K is now a THREE-race series! CASA of the Heartland will host the Light the Night 5K: Superhero Walk/Run on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Elizabethtown Sports Park. Our goal is to raise awareness for the most vulnerable children in our community—and use this night to pay tribute to our local heroes who protect and serve. This event is a celebration of those hometown heroes, and a chance for all of us to show up for kids who need someone in their corner. And now, the mission goes even farther with two more races: Meade County — June 5, 2026Grayson County — August 21, 2026Working together across all three events, we’re aiming to provide every child victim in Hardin, Breckinridge, Grayson, LaRue, and Meade counties with a CASA volunteer advocate—and hope for a better future.

Run for Stacy: A Community 5K We’ve known Stacy as a helper, a good neighbor, a loyal friend — and our favorite “cake therapist.” She’s the kind of person who quietly shows up for others without ever asking for anything in return. In June 2025, Stacy was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Since then, her world has shifted overnight. She is no longer able to work, and her focus is now fully on treatment, rest, and spending meaningful time with the people she cares about most. This 5K is our opportunity to return her kindness. Join us for the 3rd Share Your Strength 5k on Saturday May 9.  Share Your Strength is an organization that recognizes the importance of ongoing physical rehabilitation services for people when medical insurance caps coverage for those services and will not cover the costs of them.  This race will support the continuing recovery of Jan Sheffield who was diagnosed as a tetraplegic in August 2022.  She has made amazing advances such as standing alone and using her hands and arms for simple tasks that so many of us take for granted. Her goal is to regain most of her function - even walking.  These advances can only occur because of her positive determination and countless hours of therapy.    All proceeds will fund Jan's ongoing therapy costs that are crucial for her continued improvement and recovery.   The cost is $30 through May 9 with race day registration cost of $35 and included a custom race t-shirt.  The cost of a virtual 5k is $35 and includes a custom race t-shirt.  Check in

Warren County Parks and Recreation is hosting the 3rd Annual P.A.C.E. Marathon and Half Marathon in 2026! PACE stands for Parks and Community Events, and the goal of this race is to have people experience these two communities. DescriptionThe Ultimate Raider Challenge is hosted by the Grant Co HS JROTC and is a dynamic physical fitness competition designed to test teams and individual competitors’ endurance, speed, and agility, and teams' overall teamwork. The event is one continuous race that begins with a 1-mile run to assess cardiovascular stamina and set the tone for the day.  The 1-mile run will end at the 1st Obstacle Course Obstacle.  Competitors then tackle an approximately 1.5-mile obstacle course, navigating through a variety of physical challenges that test strength, coordination, and mental toughness. After the last obstacle, participants continue directly to the football field to sprint through a shuttle run, emphasizing quick bursts of speed, strength, stamina, agility, and precise movement. Beautiful Cherokee Park in Louisville will once again host the "Candace's Cause 5K". Enjoy the park's many landmarks and points of interest, all the while walking and/or running to support a worthwhile organization dedicated to finding a cure for DIPG - a rare form of pediatric brain tumor that has affected so many of our kids in this region.  This year's race is being ran on DIPG Awareness Day throughout the Commonwealth. The 9th annual Grey Matters 5K/10K/virtual race will be held in Downtown Whitesburg, Kentucky on Saturday, May 16th, 2026. For those of you who will be unable to travel to us, we will continue to offer the virtual option this year.  We are thrilled to be in our ninth year and look forward to once again bring people who have been affected by brain cancer and members of the community together to help spread awareness of the disease. Proceeds from this year's event will go to the Letcher County group ICAN, who helps people in need, including cancer patients, and another organization chosen by our honoree, who we are pleased to announce is Miss Ella Johnson.

This is a 5k walk/run event to honor those lost to the May 16 2025 tornado.  This will take place at Town Center Park in London.

The Annual Run For The Paws 5k is an annual event that encourages healthy activity within our community while raising financial support for the Clark County Animal Shelter. Through revenue generated from entry ticket sales for over 100 runners annually and generous sponsors throughout the Clark County Community, the Run For The Paws 5k has helped the Clark County Animal Shelter purchase much-needed supplies including food, shelving, cleaning materials, and more.  What is the virtual option? The 12th Annual I'm A Dam Runner is a 5K Run/Walk that takes place at beautiful Green River Lake in Campbellsville, KY on the USACE property. This race goes along the dam that creates Green River Lake, and is a closed course. It's an out and back, mostly flat, all paved, and offers views of the lake nearly the entire run. It's back! Join us on May 16, 2026 for the sixth annual, Milford's Merry Miles of May 5k race! This race offers a scenic view around the small town of Milford, KY. The course is flat and fast, with runners starting and finishing in the parking lot of Milford Christian Church.  You'll be surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland as you begin your 3.1 mile journey.  Around the 3/4 mile marker, participants will begin to run alongside the beautiful North Fork River.  As you reach the half way point, you'll run near an old tobacco barn where you'll have the chance to stop for a sip of water and take in the awesome view. Are you ready to Kiss the Goat? Get ready for an outstanding 1/2 Marathon and 10K trail running event in eastern Kentucky. These trails offers some difficult climbs but with the addition of fast descents and flowy miles. This will be the 4th year of this event and second year with the 1/2 and 10K distances.  The 10K route will be roughly 1250 feet of climbing and the half marathon around 2500 ft of climbing. Runners will do a 6.56 mile loop in each direction for the half marathon, and one lap, with a bit of a short cut for the 10K. NO DOGS ON COURSE.
