Annie Curtis Community Run

Anacortes, WA
Join us for our first EVER Annie Curtis Community Run! Railroad surveyor Amos Bowman and his beloved wife Annie Bowman (maiden name Curtis) first arrived on Fidalgo Island in 1877. Amos Bowman saw the sight as the “New York of the West” and encouraged business and industry to utilize its deep-water harbor and railroad. A post office was established in 1877 then in 1891 the city was officially incorporated. The name…. Anacortes (after Annie-Curtis!) Amos must have really loved Annie to name a whole town after her. And what better way to celebrate their love and the special town they founded than to join us on a free community 5K route highlighting and touring beautiful downtown Anacortes!? We will begin at the Depot Arts and Community Center which is a Historic Train Depot - locally known simply as “The Depot." We will then head out along the marina waterfront to the foot of Cap Sante, circle back through scenic downtown neighborhoods past historic homes, through the intricate stone
