It began with Lt Col Dan Rooney’s flight home from his second tour of duty in Iraq. An F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, he became painfully aware of the realities families face when a loved one in uniform is fallen or disabled. As his flight landed, the pilot announced they carried the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin on board. Lt Col Rooney watched as Corporal Bucklin’s twin brother walked somberly alongside the flag-covered casket to meet his family on the tarmac. Among them was the deceased Corporal’s young son, Jacob. Since that night, Lt Col Rooney has committed his life to rallying patriotic Americans and meeting sacrifice with hope through the Folds of Honor. Since 2007, Folds of Honor has provided life-changing scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military and first responders. On our watch, those who protect our freedoms and our families will know they are not forgotten.

Donate to the Cause Welcome! ​Our organization is dedicated to aiding individuals and families who have been stricken by cancer. Established in 2002 after Diane lost her battle with cancer, the fund has aided families and supported organizations who help patients battle the disease. We also support the Thomaston Food Pantry & Crisis Fund and other local charities. Thirteen years ago we decided to also promote wellness in the community and have donated a portion of the proceeds to the Thomaston Track and Tennis Facility at Nystrom's Park. The new park is a wonderful asset enjoyed by residents of all ages. ​The race is also a time to honor our Veterans and remember all those who lost their lives on 9-11. Diane and Mike were instrumental in organizing the Flag Run Across America and the 50 state flags collected during the run hang as a remembrance at our finish line.

4 miles of trails (or 2 mile walk) through Alice Newton Street Park, one of Connecticut's oldest land trusts, located in the center of Woodbridge. The trails consist of gravel, wood chips, packed dirt- there are numerous areas of rocky terrain and roots- all through a wooded landscape passing over small streams and the Wepawaug Brook, alongside Wepawaug Falls. The footing on the 2-loop course goes from easy to difficult and technical, with some steep inclines and declines and numerous bridge crossings (optional). The 2-mile walk is an out & back affair, to the falls and return on easier trails. Custom designed tech T-Shirts to all participants. Refreshments afterwards with an award ceremony to follow. This is the second annual event and is a fundraiser for the park.

Registration and Bib pickup FOR ALL RACES is at 8:30-9-30 at Weidele's Restaurant For those interested in starting in Plainfield (Moosup), we are offering a 5K at the trail head at 5 River Street in Moosup, (park in Griswold Product parking lot) and short walk to the starting line on the Moosup Valley State Park Trail. It's a 5k run to Sterling, and we will offer a shuttle you back to your car after the race. Or you can walk/run back to your car after lunch! You must check in and pick tip your Bib at 9am at Weidele's. NEW RACE ADDITION! Some have asked if they can run TWO races back to back. Why not! The Waterford High School is hosting the 14th Annual 5K Turkey Trot Run/Walk on Saturday, November 21, 2026. The 5K race will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Great Neck School located at 165 Great Neck Road, Waterford. The race will be timed by Fast Track Timing LLC. Proceeds from this fun, community event will directly support whole school initiatives including prom, trips and scholarships.   Awards for top runners in each age group and a complimentary t-shirt will be given to all pre-registerd runners. The Kiwanis Club of Wallingford is a non-profit, volunteer community service organization. We've been involved in the community for over 70 years, donating resources and financial assistance to numerous community-based projects for the benefit of the citizens of Wallingford and neighboring communities. Our goals are met annually through donations and fundraising within the community. Our achievements and success are the result of the commitment and dedication of our members, as well as the generosity and support of the community at large. The Annual Turkey Trot Road Race is our largest fundraiser and has grown over the years to be one of Wallingford's most popular road races!  Runners have the option of a 3.5 Mile or a 5 Mile race - and walkers are invited as well (although they are not timed). On Sunday, November 22nd come join New Fairfield Parks & Recreation's Annual Run for the Turkeys 5K Road Race. This year come celebrate 42 years for this race with us! Prizes for the three best Thanksgiving themed costumed runners. Digital timing, positional placing, and trophies are highlights of this event. Race bibs will be distributed on race day starting at 9am. The race starts at 11am. Music along the race route weather permitting. Spectators are welcome to cheer along the route.

Come join us for this year's Fischang-Cicchetti Memorial Road Race - a 5-mile and 5K pre-Thanksgiving Sunday-morning classic favorite of runners all over Connecticut, taking over the streets of Waterbury. We are so excited to be holding this race again in 2026. We will have both the 5 mile and 5K distance options. Please register online, and register early! The first 200 registrants will be receiving short sleeve t-shirts. Pre-race packet pick-up will be strongly recommended and can be done at the Front Desk of the Greater Waterbury YMCA on Friday November 20 from 5-7pm or Saturday November 21 from 11am-3pm. Race morning check-in will be available for those who are unable to pick up on Friday or Saturday. We will not be assigning start waves this year, so you will not need to provide an estimated race time when you register. We will encourage you to line up according to speed, with faster runners towards the front, and slower runners and walkers towards the back. There will be awards for top 3 male & female overall, and top 3 male & female in each division (no cash prizes this year) for the 5K and the 5 Mile, presented after the race. Get ready for Thanksgiving with a short run through Waveny Park the Sunday before the holiday. 5 km course starting and finishing at the Main House. ChronoTrack B-Tag timing. The event will take place on Sunday, November 22, 2026 at Waveny Park from the Main House. Runners can check in on race day beginning at 10:30 AM, and can also check in early on Friday, November 20, 3-5 PM and Saturday, November 21, 10 AM-1 PM at the New Canaan Library. The Great Turkey Escape 5K road race and 3/4 mile kids run. Ninth annual Roxbury Thanksgiving Day Charity Race! Hurlburt Community Park, take right-hand turn onto Rocky Mountain Road and then travel along Hemlock Road to the bottom and then turnaround and return to near the community park. The proceeds will benefit the Roxbury Ambulance Association and the Roxbury Scholarship Foundation. Non-perishable goods for the Roxbury Food Pantry at the Church of Christ in Roxbury will also be collected.
