The Tallahassee Marathon began in 1975 with just two participants. From there, it has grown to a first-class event showcasing Florida’s capital city like no other race. The Tallahassee Marathon is an all-volunteer event organized by the Gulf Winds Track Club, a local non-profit dedicated to advancing the sport of running, whether for competition, physical fitness, or pleasure. Our 2026 participant survey reveals what you can expect on the course. One runner summed up the event field size perfectly: "This was the perfect amount of people for the size of the city." The route will be mostly single track with lots of roots and some rocks, along with some atv packed sand roads. Hot food will be served at 830 am, 130 pm, 9 pm and 430 am. ADVENTURE LIKE NO OTHER! Experience nature and wildlife in this exciting 30K, Half Marathon, 8 Mile, and 5K trail run that meanders along Lake Apopka's shoreline!   Lake Apopka is located 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Orlando. It is the third-largest lake in the state of Florida. The north shore of Lake Apopka is a haven for bird-watching, wildlife photographers, and nature lovers of all ages. The Lake Apopka Loop Trail follows the lake’s edge through the property, covering more than 20 miles and providing hiking and biking opportunities. The Loop Trail is expected to circumnavigate Lake Apopka in the future but is currently an out-and-back trail traversing the northern half of the lake. There are four trailheads for the Loop Trail with restrooms at the Green Mountain, North Shore/McDonald Canal boat ramp, and Magnolia Park trailheads and port-a-lets at the historic pump house.  All events start and finish at Magnolia Park in Apopka.
