Pirate 5K, 10K, 13.1M & 26.2M at Beaumont, TX (05)

Beaumont, TX
US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. EMS is not stationed on site, and water stations are limited to the finish area at the end of each lap and at the race finish. Please plan for the weather, bring anything you may want between laps, and check in with race staff if you need help. View Race Course, Results, and Race Information on the US Road Running race page.

Whether you’re walking with friends or racing for the grand finish, you will be a part of celebrating AJ’s memory and supporting the Belton High School Band Program. Registrants age 18 & under will receive a reduced price...this will appear as you register. The AJ Howard Memorial Fund was established in May of 2016. AJ was tragically taken from his family in an auto accident. In lieu of flowers at his memorial service, AJ’s mother asked that any money be donated to the Belton High School Marching Band (M100) to help pay the band fees for those students who would benefit from the support of available funds. These donations covered the cost of equipment, uniforms, instruments & private lesson fees for many M100 band members, making it possible for all M100 members to have what they need to not only participate, but also excel in band. The Belton Band Boosters continues to honor AJ’s memory through the AJ Howard Scholarship Fund, providing financial assistance to band students in need. Every dollar made from the Annual 5K goes directly to students from Belton High School, Belton Middle School, and South Belton Middle School to help cover the cost of uniforms, instruments, and private lessons. AJ had a servant's heart and was well loved by his fellow band members. He will not be forgotten. Through the AJ Howard Scholarship Fund his spirit of generosity lives on and will continue to impact the lives of M100 members for many years to come. *The In-Person 5K is part of the Cen-Tex Race Series. Exactly 100 miles every 24 hours if you last that long. :60 Minutes on the clock One loop per hour, on the hour. You're in the corral or you're out. 1 Soloist remains There is no finish line. Only a last one standing. 4 Texas venues Four landscapes. Four seasons. One frontier circuit. What Is This A season-long championship across Texas. Brought to you by the team behind Run A Backyard Ultra, The Last Frontier Circuit is a multi-venue points series that crowns the ultimate endurance champion of the Lone Star State. Complete two or more events, stack your yards, and climb the master leaderboard. 2+ Events Required Compete in at least two circuit races to unlock your spot on the master leaderboard. 1.5× Rodeo Multiplier The brutal Rodeo terrain pays 1.5 pts per loop. Stack your advantage early. +5 Last One Standing Win any event and earn five bonus points. The crown stays in play all season. 🗺️ The Circuit Lineup Four landscapes. Four seasons. Four kinds of suffering. Each race is its own battle. Together they determine who rules the frontier. Spring 01 The Grit Rodeo Trail Run Backyard Ultra 📍 Spicewood, Texas ✓ 2026 complete: Nate Ulrici, last one standing. Alex Rubio, the assist. Rugged, technical Hill Country terrain designed to test early-season limits. The most demanding course on the circuit, and it rewards you for it. ⛰️ 1.5× Points Per Loop Race Page & Registration → Late May 02 The Foundation Austin's Backyard Ultra 📍 Turkey Bend Recreation Area ✓ 2026 complete: Sarah Sharpe, last one standing at 28 yards. Rachel Moore, the assist at 26. Texas Hill Country at the edge of summer. An unforgiving late-May sun that challenges the state's most serious endurance runners. Race Page & Registration → Autumn 03 The Loam Big Bastrop Backyard Ultra 📍 Lake Bastrop ✓ Inaugural edition complete: Samuel Kirk, last one standing at 16 yards (66.7 miles). Matthew Lawrence, the assist at 15. Set deep in the iconic lost pines and sandy loam. The inaugural edition is in the books, and its yards now count toward the final standings. Race Page & Registration → WINTER 04 The SALT Gulf Coast Backyard Ultra 📍 Matagorda Bay Nature Park · February 13, 2027 · Season finale Where the Colorado finally meets the Gulf, and where the season ends. Packed sand, rock levee, and open beach at the end of the river. Flat, wide open, and the only hill is the wind. The crown gets decided here. Last one standing wins the sea. Race Page & Registration → 🏆 Series Scoring The Last Texan Standing: How Points Work Backyard ultra scoring is simple. The series layer adds strategy. Here's exactly how your loops turn into the championship title. 01 🎯 The Two-Race Minimum To appear on the official Master Circuit Standings, you must record completed loops at a minimum of two of our four circuit events. Run one event and your points still bank, but your name doesn't unlock on the master leaderboard until you hit that second starting corral. 02 📊 The Math: 1 Loop = 1 Point Your score is based entirely on distance not position, not pace. At Big Bastrop, every loop you finish before the 60-minute bell earns exactly 1 point. At Austin's Backyard it earns you 1.1 points. Example: tap out after 12 hours (the 50-mile mark) and you walk away with 12 points. 1.5× The Rodeo Multiplier ⛰️ Rodeo Points Per Loop Not all trails are equal. Because of the brutal terrain and sheer physical toll of the Rodeo Backyard Ultra, every completed loop is worth 1.5 points. Grind out a 50-miler (12 loops) at Rodeo and you're banking 18 points, not 12. LoopsDistanceBastrop & Matagorda / AustinRodeo (1.5×)4 loops16.6 mi4 pts / 4.4 pts6 pts12 loops50 mi12 pts / 13.2 pts18 pts24 loops100 mi24 pts / 26.4 pts36 pts 03 ⚡ Bonus Points for the Final Survivors The deep-mileage battles that happen when the field thins out deserve extra weight. Flat bonus points go to the last two athletes not affected by the Rodeo multiplier. +5 Last Person Standing Win the race. Earn five bonus points on top of your total loop score. +3 The Assist Complete the second-to-last loop. Three bonus points for making it a battle. 💡 The Strategy If you want to win the circuit, you can't cruise through one event. You need massive yards and you absolutely want to take advantage of the point-heavy Rodeo course to launch yourself up the standings early in the season. The crown stays up for grabs until the final yard is run. Show Up. Line Up. WILL YOU BE THE LAST TEXAN STANDING? Three venues down. The crown gets decided at Matagorda Bay on February 13. Register and take your shot at the Last Frontier Circuit title. Backyard Ultra: Official Race Rules Backyard Ultra is a unique format of endurance running. It is not a race for a set distance, nor a race for a set time. The objective is for each runner to cover the maximum distance possible for their level of ability. There is only one winner, the runner who covers the greatest total distance, but every participant plays a role in the outcome, and many runners will achieve distances they never thought possible along the way. Starting Corral All runners must be inside the corral before the starting bell. 2. Starting Each Yard Each "Yard" (one loop of the course) begins exactly one hour after the previous Yard started. Runners will receive warnings at 3 minutes, 2 minutes, and 1 minute before the starting bell. All runners must start at the bell. Late starts are not permitted. If you are not in the corral at the bell, your race is over. 3. During a Yard Once a Yard begins, runners may not leave the course except for restroom breaks. No non-competitors, including runners who have already been eliminated, may accompany an active runner on the course. No personal aid (food, water, pacing, coaching, etc.) is allowed while a Yard is in progress. Each Yard must be completed in under one hour to count. Any runner who does not finish the loop within the hour is eliminated. No artificial aids of any kind are permitted, including trekking poles. Faster runners have the right of way. Slower runners must yield and allow themselves to be passed. 4. Timing Keeping individual lap times is optional and left to each runner's discretion. 5. Winner and Results The winner is the last runner remaining who successfully completes one more Yard than every other competitor. All other runners, including the second-place finisher, are officially recorded as DNF (Did Not Finish). Final results will list every runner's total number of Yards completed. If the field cannot produce a runner who completes one more Yard than all others (for example, if the last two runners both stop at the same point), no winner will be declared for that edition of the race. To be declared the winner of any backyard ultra on the Last Frontier Circuit, the last runner must start the final yard alone and complete it within the hour. If two or more runners start a yard and only one returns in time, that runner must start and complete one more yard alone to claim the win. By registering for this event, all runners agree to abide by these rules. Any runner who does not start at the bell, leaves the course during an active Yard (except for a restroom break), receives outside aid, or fails to complete a Yard within one hour will be marked as eliminated. MATAGORDA: Gulf Coast Trail Running Festival

Matagorda, TX
Where the river meets the sea Two days. Five ways to run the Texas coast. Just 90 minutes from Houston. Matagorda is where the Colorado River finally gives up and hands itself to the Gulf. LCRA's Matagorda Bay Nature Park is flat, wide open, and quiet in a way that most of Texas is not. In February the heat is gone, the light is long, and the wind coming off the water is the only hill you will climb all weekend. Saturday belongs to the Backyard Ultra: one loop, one hour, over and over, until one runner is left. Sunday belongs to everyone else, with a marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K rolling out at sunrise. If you show up Sunday morning, look for the backyard runners still moving. They have been out there since Saturday. Start times are staggered: All Central Time. The course is miles of packed sand, rock levee, beach, and crushed granite. RaceStructure Backyard UltraOne lap at 4.167 miles per hour, forever Marathon6 laps, then in to the pavilion Half Marathon3 laps, then in to the pavilion 10KPavilion to the 1.55 turn, twice 5KPavilion to the 1.55 turn, once The marathon and half run long by design. The course is the course, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If you are chasing a certified PR, this is not that race. If you want to run the Texas coast at sunrise, it is. The Events Gulf Coast Backyard Ultra Saturday, February 13 · 9:00 AM · 4.167 mile loop The Last One Standing Wins the Sea BRONZE TICKET QUALIFIER & LAST FRONTIER CIRCUIT CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE Complete the loop within one hour, then start again on the next hour. Finish early and the leftover time is yours to eat, change socks, nap, and regret your decisions. Miss the hour, or fail to start the next loop, and your day is over. There is no finish line. There is only the moment the person next to you decides they are done. Camp is at the pavilion, which you pass twice every hour, so your chair, your crew, and your cooler are never more than a few minutes away. This is the Circuit Championship Finale. The Last Texan Standing, winner of the full Last Frontier Circuit, is presented with a custom bronze championship trophy at the finish. Paid by the Mile: The last runner standing not only receives the event champion's trophy, but also a check for $2 per mile covered, rounded to the nearest dollar. The winner also earns a complimentary entry to the next race on The Last Frontier Circuit. Prize money is awarded to an official winner only (final loop completed solo). Entry is non-transferable; if the winner is already registered for that race, they receive a credit they can apply to a future race or merch. Matagorda Marathon Sunday, February 14 · 8:00 AM · 26.51 miles · 8 hour cutoff Six full laps of the out and back, then a seventh that stops at the pavilion. Seven trips down the sand, the levee, the beach, and the crushed granite. Flat, fast if the wind cooperates, and honest if it does not. Matagorda Half Marathon Sunday, February 14 · 8:00 AM · 13.57 miles · 4 hour cutoff Three full laps, then a fourth that finishes at the pavilion before the turnaround. Same sand, same beach, same wind, home in time for lunch. Walker friendly within the cutoff. Matagorda 10K Sunday, February 14 · 8:30 AM · 6.20 miles Two out and backs from the pavilion, 1.55 miles each way, down the packed sand and rock levees toward the trail head and the beach. All of the coast, none of the commitment. Matagorda 5K Sunday, February 14 · 8:30 AM · 3.10 miles Out and back from the pavilion, 1.55 miles each way. Flat, packed, forgiving. Bring the family. Bring the kid who says they hate running and watch them sprint the last 200 meters anyway. The Course From the pavilion, you head west toward the trail head near the visitor center, then south on the LCRA trail, moving through packed sand, over rock levees, before dropping back onto packed sand on the beach. You run with the Gulf on one side and the dunes on the other, come back north through the pavilion, then turn onto the Wildlife Trail's crushed granite and out to the gazebo. Touch the turnaround and retrace it all. Surfaces, in order: packed sand, rock levee, packed sand, open beach, crushed granite. Most of the course, the packed sand and the crushed granite, runs fine in road shoes. The rock levee and the softer stretches of beach are where a trail shoe earns its grip. If you have trail shoes, this is a day to wear them. If you do not, road shoes will get you around. If the sand is soft after rain, you will know it. Elevation: About 56 feet of gain per lap on Strava, net near zero on the out and back. Different watches will report anywhere from 30 to 60 feet. Either way, the only hill you climb all weekend is the Gulf wind. Every race starts and finishes at the pavilion, so that is where the noise is. Crews, coolers, chairs, and the finish line all live in one place, and the marathoners come through it twice a lap. Expect wind. Expect birds. Matagorda sits on one of the busiest migration corridors in North America, and you will share the morning with herons, pelicans, and a few thousand things you cannot name. Expect the horizon to be very far away. Aid, Awards, and Logistics Aid stations 100% Cupless Event: In alignment with our green race initiatives to protect the coastal ecosystem, we are a strictly cupless event. No paper cups will be provided at the aid stations. All participants must bring their own reusable cups, handheld bottles, or hydration vests to fill up. Fully Stocked Stations: Our main aid station at the pavilion will be fully stocked to keep you fueled and moving. You can expect: Hydration: Cold water and electrolyte replacement drinks. Real Food: A variety of fresh fruit (bananas, oranges), sweet and salty snacks, and easily digestible ultra-running staples. Fit Foundation Half Marathon Ruck 13.1 miles. Same trail. Weight on your back. Rucking is covering ground with a loaded pack. Same course as the half marathon, same start, same finish line, same cutoff. The only difference is what you are carrying and who you are racing. Ruckers are scored as their own division with their own results and their own awards. You are not competing against the runners and they are not competing against you. Minimum pack weight 20 lb · 30 lb 20 lb if you weigh under 150 lb. 30 lb if you weigh 150 lb or over. The rules Weigh in before the start. Bring your pack to the start area at least 30 minutes before your wave. We weigh it, we tag it, you go.Water does not count. Your hydration, food, phone and layers are on top of the minimum. The weight is dry weight.Any weight is fine. Ruck plates, bricks, sand, books, dumbbells. It has to be secure and it has to stay in the pack for the whole course. You finish with what you started with. Weight is checked again at the finish. Anything under the minimum moves you out of the ruck division.Carry it yourself. No handing your pack off, no dragging, no wheels.Run, walk, or anything between. There is no rule about how you move, only about what you carry.Rucking counts toward your Run the River mileage exactly the same as running. Thirteen point one miles is thirteen point one miles. First time rucking? A loaded pack on a trail is harder than the same distance on your feet, and most people go out too quick. A few things that help: Train with the weight before race day. Even two or three loaded walks makes a difference to your shoulders.Get the load high and tight against your back. Weight that sits low and swings will wreck you by mile six.Wear the socks and shoes you have already tested. Rucking changes how your feet hit the ground.Pack the weight so it cannot shift. Movement inside the pack is the most common reason people stop. Same trail. Same finish line. Considerably more of it on your back.

Viking 5K, 10K & 13.1M at Pflugerville, TX (07)

Pflugerville, TX

If conditions turns into lightening, ice or become unsafe, the event may be cancelled. Event changes and cancellations are at the discretion of the Race Director. A lot of hours, days and even months goes into planning a sporting event and we do so with the best intentions. Unfortunately, no one can control the weather and race directors are not the exceptions. Our goal is to always produce a full event as scheduled and only modify these plans due to safety concerns some of which can be caused by weather conditions. Thank you for your understanding of these policies and we appreciate your participation. If you are unable to participate in the event, or the event is canceled, you can still receive your packet, shirt, and medal and you simply run the race on your own time on your own course. Jackalope Jam

Cat Spring, TX
Description The Jackalope Jam is a timed event format, where you record the greatest distance possible during your chosen duration while running, walking, hiking, or choosing to compete in our separate ruck divisions. You can also compete as a 2-6 person team in our 24-Hour Relay. Event durations: 1-hour, 3-hour, 6-hour, 12-hour, 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, and 100-hour - and the Jackalope Joey 10-Minute We start the 100-hour on Wednesday of race week, and each morning that week, we add another group onto the course. The main event is Saturday, when all events are on course together. New for 2027, we have added a Friday night beer mile and a Saturday Jackalope Joey kids run. The Jackalope Jam takes place at 7IL Ranch, just outside of Cat Spring / Bellville, Texas. This private ranch offers a barn and pavilion staging area, ample parking and on-site camping, washroom and shower facilities, and RV hookup spots (RV reservations made separately through CampSpot). The open landscape and welcoming ranch setting create the perfect atmosphere for a true Texas ultra experience. The course is a flat, fast 2-mile out-and-back on a short-grass and gravel farm road — one mile out to the infamous “Cone of Death” and one mile back. Participants complete as many full 2-mile laps as they choose within their selected event duration. Only completed laps count toward your total distance. It’s common for runners in the longer events to take extended breaks, sleep, set up personal aid along the course, or even leave the ranch and return later to continue their miles. A fully stocked main aid station will be located at the start/finish, featuring our standard Texas-sized ultra buffet, including real food options for overnight participants. Runners are encouraged to set up their own tents and crew areas along the course for easy access throughout the event. All participants receive a mounted jackalope head and either a race shirt or hoodie (depending on event distance), along with a participant keepsake. Solo competitors who reach 100 kilometers or more will earn a buckle for the furthest milestone distance they reach, with a milestone buckle awarded for standard distance increments (100k, 100M, 150M, 200M, etc.). Bonus patches are available for ruck participants. Relay Pricing and Format: Each time an additional team member registers, the previous members will receive a $10 refund for every new person added. All members pay the same amount, the larger the team the lower the per-person registration fee. The relay is an open format; no designated order or number of laps per member is required. The only rule is that you can only exchange runners in the exchange area at the start/finish after completing laps. Members of teams can not be adjusted after the registration period closes (changes can be made by the captain until registration closes, adding/removing members, changing divisions, etc.) Teams can compete in one of three divisions: all male, all female, or coed (minimum 2 female).
