See below for directions The "Run With The Bears 5K" will be a tour of the historical, river, and downtown districts of the Washington County seat of Plymouth, NC. Runners can expect a relatively flat, road race with a short section along a nature trail with some uneven terrain and gravel. This race is a fund-raiser for the Washington County Historical Society and we will start the race with a full sized replica of a Civil War cannon!!!  BOOM!! Myles for a Mission 5K - The mission of the 5k is to raise awareness of childhood drowning prevention.  This race is held to honor the memory of Myles Davis Pope.  Myles tragically passed away just shy of his 2nd birthday due to a drowning accident.  Our mission is to raise money and awareness to prevent and educate others of childhood drownings.  Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4, and the second leading cause of unintentional death for children ages 5-14. Children five years old and younger are especially vulnerable, representing 75% of child drowning deaths.  Boys are also more than twice as likely to drown as girls.   All proceeds will be donated to the Myles Davis Pope Memorial Fund.
