The Spirit of Sierah, Justice for Sierah's Color Run, is designed to honor the life and legacy of Sierah Joughin. Sierah was a University of Toledo student who was tragically taken from our community in 2016 by a repeat violent offender. This year we are excited to be back at The University of Toledo as we provide a splash of color to celebrate Sierah's life at this family-friendly event. Participants can choose to walk or run a one-mile Fun Run or 5K route throughout the campus. This is not a timed event, but we hope you will join us nonetheless to celebrate Sierah's life and bring awareness to the power of self-defense. A high-quality t-shirt and a finishers medal will be included with each registration. Registration must be received by October 4, 2026, to guarantee a t-shirt. All proceeds from this event will benefit Justice for Sierah. Justice for Sierah (JFS) is a nonprofit organization working to empower communities through self-defense, advocacy, and support to prevent violence and protect lives. The Sierah Strong for the Community program has positively impacted 6,000 children with self-defense training and distributed 3,000 KidPrint IDs. Sierah Strong for the Schools has reached 50 schools, bringing life-saving education both in and out of the classroom. Sierah’s Law Passed in Ohio unanimously in December 2018, establishing a violent offender database. Sierah was full of life and love; please join us in honoring her at the Spirit of Sierah Color Run! Join Project Purple for Steps for a Cure 5k: Battle Thrive Live Run! In 2020, Robin Schroeder underwent a Whipple procedure after being diagnosed with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET). After years of recovery, determination, and crossing countless finish lines, she learned in late 2025 that her cancer had returned and progressed to Stage IV. Instead of letting that diagnosis define her, Robin chose to keep moving forward. A passionate runner, advocate, wife, mother, and believer in finding joy in every day, she has completed numerous half marathons and marathons since her original surgery. Running became more than exercise—it became a symbol of resilience, hope, and the power of putting one foot in front of the other, no matter the obstacles. As Race Director of Steps for the Cure: Battle • Thrive • Live • Run, Robin is proud to bring this event to the communities of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. In partnership with Project Purple, she hopes to raise awareness, support pancreatic cancer research, and create a meaningful event that honors survivors, remembers loved ones, and inspires hope for everyone impacted by this disease. Her message is simple: Battle with courage. Thrive with purpose. Live with gratitude. Run toward hope. Because every step matters, and every step brings us closer to a cure.
