Races

You have reached the GWTC site where individuals and organizations willing to volunteer at GWTC races can indicate their availability. The Track club hosts approximately 20 races each year, and is in need of volunteers to assist. Your contact information will be shared exclusively with GWTC race directors who may reach out to you to help with one of our races. The type of assistance we need varies, but generally falls into one of the following categories:  water tables, traffic control, medal/award distribution, finish line food distribution, etc.  Time dedication varies depending on race length, and can be from an hour or two to more.  Most races are held on Saturday mornings.    If you wish to reach out directly to any of our race directors, you may find a list of races and directors here.

I understand that I am joining a physically active training group organized by Gulf Winds Track Club (herein after “the club” or “GWTC") for its members, but that nonmembers may participate in the group as well. A list of these training groups is generally posted on the club web page (www.gulfwinds.org) along with a brief statement about the purpose of each group. This waiver and registration apply to all these groups and to all similar activities of GWTC. "Walk a mile in their shoes!" This year, we celebrate the 36th Annual Tallahassee AIDS Walk, working alongside partner organizations Neighborhood Medical Center and Bond Community Health Center. The Tallahassee AIDS Walk continues to grow, drawing hundreds of participants each year. AIDS Walk 2026 will be held on Saturday, April 4th at Cascades Park and begins at 9:00am.   This event is a celebration of all of those who have fought so hard to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS. All proceeds will go towards helping all three agencies provide direct-care services for our clients, and HIV prevention & education for the entire Big Bend region. The 51st Palace Saloon 5K is the oldest and fastest 5K race in Tallahassee. This a point-to-point race. While the finish line takes place at the Palace Saloon, parking and the race start are at the James Messer Sports Complex. Athletes of all skill levels are invited to run your choice of our 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or 1-Mile course.  All races will start at BMX parking, a short trail walk from the Animal Shelter @ Tom Brown Park. Races will finish at the Shelter's back parking lot. None of the courses will be run on Easterwood.  Easterwood will remain open before and during the races. 2026 Gulf Winds Summer Trail Series This four-race series takes place on the most scenic and challenging trails in Tallahassee. Each course offers a little bit of everything: rolling terrain, single track trails, multi-use trails, and technical sections with rocks, roots, and tight twisty turns. This is a great off-road running experience. Registration is limited to 150 runners. Don't miss out! Remember all the hugs and handshakes you’ve had on Labor Day mornings since 2015 at the Bluebird Run and Walk for Brookie B? Let’s do it again. If you’ve just found out about us, you don’t want to miss this. Our 5K trail course is one of the most beautiful and challenging in Tallahassee. Wide multi-use trails make a loop through the greenway, starting and ending at the trailhead. Past participants have said, “You’ll never forget your first Bluebird.”  Our 1 Mile Fun Run course is unique with an out-and-back canopy trail that crosses the Lafayette Heritage Canopy Bridge.
