2026 Shelbyville Triathlon Series

Join The Fun Have a fitness resolution for the new year?  Hate the bike trainer and treadmill?  Just can't wait till spring to start the season?  This series is for you.  We will race in some way, shape or form no matter the weather!  So sign up now and give yourself a goal to keep you motivated this winter. The Series The series will consist of 3 races.  The first event will be run/bike/swim and the last 2 will be in the normal order of events (subject to change based on the weather.  The overall male and female series winners will be awarded at the of the series. Strawberry 5K Run/Walk

Oh the FUN!  This Strawberry themed race takes place on paved trails in beautiful Blue River Park in Shelbyville!  T-shirts will be red and/or pink! Strawberry finisher medals for everyone!  Strawberry themed Awards for top 3 male/female overall and 3 deep in each age group!  Pick up Strawberries along the course and bring in for prizes (not real strawberries, Silly!).  Free 1/4 mile Shortcake Kids run at 7:45 a.m. Yummy Strawberry and Shortcake snacks post-race!

The Melt Down - Three Consecutive 5Ks

Shelbyville, IN
Three 5K's + One Day = The Melt Down!  This challenging event is in it's 11th year.  Three consecutive 5K's at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  Do one, two or all three races!  You can decide that day!  Races must be done in order (so no fresh runners in race #2 or race #3). If participants are just doing one race it has to be the 8:00 a.m. race.  Races must be finished in 1 hour to allow for the start of the next race.  Course is on a beautiful wide, smooth, paved trail through two parks and crosses a historical bridge!  Indoor restrooms and a fun, free splash pad and playground for the kiddos located right next to the start/finish.   Everyone who finishes the first race races receives a custom MELT DOWN medal.  Fun HOT, summer themed t-shirts!  Awards for top three male/female and top 3 in age groups in the FIRST race only.  Also award for the top male and female best COMBINED times of all three races.

Tom Short 5K

Shelbyville, IL
The Tom Short 5k course is run on the beautiful General Dacey Trail, in Shelbyville, Illinois's Forest Park.  This race is very unique, challenging and competitive!  Some of the areas elite athletes from colleges and high schools come to take on the difficult course and break the course record set in 2018, a time of 15:29!  It's a great race for spectators as you can see the runners from many locations and cheer them on as they finish the race - creating an awesome atmosphere! Finishing in the Top 10 at the Tom Short 5K is a huge accomplishment and if you do, you will receive an additional Tom Short Race Shirt with your place on it! If you like being a part of a team, we have an option for team cross country scoring.  Form a team of five runners and sign-up on race day for the team competition.  After the race has finished we take each of your individual places and add them up for a total team score.  We have a Male, Female & Mixed Team Division. Farmers Market 5K Run/Walk

Have you been to the Shelbyville Farmers Market? WONDERFUL!  This event starts and ends in the heart of the Farmers Market!  Course is chip timed and is on paved road! Animal trophies for top 3 overall and 1st-3rd each age group!  Country Farmer themed race then shop at the market! Fun Farmer Market shirts and snacks! Free 1/4 mile Half Pint Kids run at 7:45 (kids 10 & Under).  Lots of restaurants and shops close by! This event benefits  Healthy Shelby a program that many Shelby County community charities!

NIRCA Cross Country Open 6K

The NIRCA Cross Country Open 6K is an annual race that precedes the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association National Championships. Blue River Cross Country Course in Shelbyville, IN will host this year's race. Blue River is sure to provide a memorable racing experience. After you race, stay around afterwards and watch the premier race in collegiate club running. The NIRCA Open 6K is open to the public! If you're a part of the local community, a middle- or high school runner in your post season, a fan of collegiate club running, NIRCA alumni or ineligible athlete, a parent, spectator ...... then this race is for you! Spikes may be worn at the runner's discretion. This race will take place in rain or shine. Online registration closes 2 days before the event.
