This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Go for the Gold Rochester fundraiser supporting Brighter, Tomorrows, Inc, , a non-profit outreach to families who have been touched by childhood cancer. This year we are excited to welcome you back to Cascade Park where we will host an event that offers both in person and virtual options including a 5k and 10k run, 3k Family Walk, and also Children's Races at the Cascade Lakeside Building area on October 31st! During Covid we were so appreciative of those of you who supported us via a virtual race from across the US that we have decided to continue the virtual race and walk options! This annual event provides critical funding allowing us to support families who suddenly find themselves on a childhood cancer journey. The comfort Brighter Tomorrows’ families feel from the support, connection and friendship received is impactful and that support continues beyond the treatment journey well into the future. We sincerely appreciate the compassion, volunteer efforts and financial donations that have been given to Brighter Tomorrows and extend our heartfelt thanks to friends, families, our business colleagues, and our communities that have joined our mission. This year we have invited a Brighter Tomorrows family from years back to join us, Randy and Ree Erickson. They formed a 501(c)(3) to provide affordable apartments and support for out of town families with immuno-compromised children receiving cancer treatment or an organ transplant at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Cy's Place is named after their son Silas, an amazing little boy who battled cancer with incredible courage however he sadly lost the battle in late 2007. They have purchased a 9 acre lot in Rochester with the dream of creating apartments that will be a place of rest, comfort, and care for many families in the years ahead. You can help by donating to Brighter Tomorrows, Inc. and/or Cy's Place and by sharing this page on social media with all those you care about! And of course, if you sign up to run or walk in person or virtually all proceeds from this event go to benefit families on the childhood cancer journey served by both Brighter Tomorrows and Cy's Place! Who knows how it feels to be told "Your child has cancer?" We do. And we are here to help. Whether it's your first 5k, 10k Run or you'd prefer to walk the 3k, you can take part in supporting families on the pediatric cancer journey. Sign up today! Everyone who signs up by October 1st will receive a race shirt in your designated size at our Race Bag Pickup on October 30th. If you sign up after 10/1/26 we will do our best to accommodate your request however available shirts may be limited and cannot be guaranteed. Since our race is on Halloween, we hope our runners and walkers will come in costume, both the kids and adults! There will be prizes for top costumes as well so start planning your outfit now. If you are running or walking to support a certain Brighter Tomorrows or Cy's Place Family, please note their team’s name on your registration. We will also have race registration available at race bag pickup on October 30th. We look forward to seeing those of you who are local at the Race Bag Pickup night! The Haunted Halfie is a brand-new Halloween-themed race coming to Rochester, MN! This exciting event features a certified half marathon, team relay options, a 5K, and a kids run—there’s something for everyone. Presented by Olmsted Medical Center! The course begins at RCTC and winds through tree-lined neighborhoods, follows the scenic Bear Creek paved trails, and finishes in unforgettable fashion INDOORS at the RCTC field house! Expect epic costumes, the best swag, themed costume cheer zones along the course, vendors, Halloween-inspired activities, and an incredible race-day atmosphere. Proceeds from The Haunted Halfie will support local mental health organizations, including NAMI and Aidan’s Light. This is the one to run in 2026! Get Ready to Go Bananas, Rochester! This isn’t your normal 5K. Actually, it’s not even a 5K. The Going Bananas Run Rochester is a roughly three-mile fun run where hundreds of people take over the trails of Rochester dressed head to toe as bananas. Yes, bananas. Run it. Walk it. Bring the kids. Get a group of friends together. Try to win the whole thing. We really don’t care how you do it. The whole point is to have a ridiculously fun time while raising money for a great local cause. 🍌 Your Banana Suit Is Included Every registration comes with your very own banana suit to wear during the run and take home afterward. You’ll also get entry into the Gorilla Challenge and access to the post-race celebration. We’ll have serious runners at the front, walkers in the back, families, friend groups, coworkers, and plenty of people who signed up mostly because running through Rochester dressed as a banana sounded too funny to pass up. 🦍 Can You Beat the Gorilla? Here’s where things get interesting. All of the bananas start first. Two minutes later, we release the Gorilla. Then it’s a race to the finish. Cross the finish line before the Gorilla catches you and you’ll earn the coveted “I Beat the Gorilla” finisher prize. Get caught? No big deal. The Gorilla Challenge is completely optional and mostly exists to make the run more fun. It also helps us raise even more money for a local nonprofit, so the faster you run, the more good we can do. 🎉 Stick Around After the Run Crossing the finish line doesn’t mean you have to head home. Stick around for food and drinks, sponsor activities, awards, photos, and a few hundred people standing around Rochester in banana suits wondering how this became their Saturday.
