Located in Reston, VA, Lake Fairfax has a beautiful lake and an awesome trail network. Our courses hit the best singletrack and include some great views of the lake.  There are a few short technical sections (more rocks and roots), but most of the course is fairly smooth singletrack.  There is barely any pavement on this course.  There are no extended climbs, but lots of short ups and downs. The Reston Runners are hosting the 13th annual Run Thru Reston Half Marathon & 5K on Sunday, April 26, 2026, 7:30 AM The racecourse has some rolling hills on beautiful, paved trails. The course will be well marked and lined with friendly and supportive volunteers to boost your spirits along the way. The half marathon and 5K races will both start on the track at South Lakes High School. The Half Marathon will start at 7:30 am, followed by the 5K start at 7:45 am. Both races will finish on the track at South Lakes HS.The 5K race is perfect for walkers and families who are there to support their half marathon runner. We do not allow pets or strollers on the course.  We provide an extensive post-race feast for all race participants and volunteers. The courses are amply supported with eager volunteers, porta-potties (for the Half Marathon), race-course water and Gatorade. DTC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the needs of these children so that they may become responsible members of society. Both working and unemployed families need access to affordable, quality preschool, daycare, and educational services unavailable to them without outside assistance. Devotion identifies those needs and works to fulfill them.

Reston Masters Swim Team is pleased to announce the 38th edition of the Jim McDonnell Lake Swims. Sanctioned by Potomac Valley LMSC for US Masters Swimming, Sanction#: 106-W001 The swims will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Lake Audubon in Reston, VA. (Directions)

Held annually on the first Sunday in June, this year’s 20th annual Reston Sprint Triathlon takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, beginning with a 400-meter swim in Lake Newport pool, followed by a 12-mile bike ride on the streets of Reston, and a 5K run on area pathways. Afterward, celebrate your success and share your stories with friends and family in the post-race beer garden. Our in-person Monthly Meetup series begins in February. Meetups present an opportunity to meet the RST leadership team, gain resources for your training, participate in raffles, and make new friends! Calling all kids ages 6 to 17! Join CORE Foundation for a swim, bike, and run in Reston, Virginia. Para and adaptive athletes are welcome! Distances vary by age. This event focuses on participation rather than competition, making every athlete feel like a winner. Parents and families are encouraged to come out and cheer on all the athletes!

Looking for a reason to get out and run to complete your summer of training? Join us for the  South Lakes 10K and run through the neighborhood, on a course that is a fan favorite! Since 1984, the Reston Triathlon has been a staple in our community. It opens with a 1500-meter open water swim in Lake Audubon, followed by a 25-mile bike ride and a 10K run on local paths. The Olympic distance event has challenged athletes from around the country and has affectionately been called the Reston Triathlon World Championship. During the pandemic, the previous board worked tirelessly to keep the tradition alive. Unfortunately, in 2021, they announced they could no longer financially or logically sustain the Reston Triathlon. CORE Foundation, working closely with the previous board, is thrilled to revive the event and continue the legacy. The Reston Triathlon made its comeback debut on September 10, 2023! This year's race date is September 28, 2025. CORE Foundation is grateful for the loyal athletes and local community. Located in Reston, VA, this suburban park has a beautiful lake, huge open fields, pavilions, and an awesome trail network. Our course is almost entirely singletrack except for the prologue.  There is about 300 feet of elevation change on the 5 mile course.  While not overly technical, there are some rocks and roots to negotiate along most of the course.
