The ORRC Turkey Trot at the Oregon Zoo is a multi-generational family event. Runners and walkers of all abilities love the 5K, untimed out-and-back course. The event starts at The Oregon Zoo by the Forestry Center and the Max station, then goes out toward the International Rose Garden, and finishes inside The Oregon Zoo at the Elephant Plaza. The Tot Trot (children 0- 4 years old) and the Gobble Gallop (for children between 5 and 10 years old) events follow the 5K at the Elephant plaza inside the zoo. Every entrant in the 5K and kids events receive an awesome beanie hat and chocolate turkey. There will be no shirts this year, but we are bringing back medals for all finishers. PLEASE NOTE: The event is capped for non-ORRC members at 2,200 participants! The deadline to register is Thursday, November 19, 2026, and there is no day of race registration. Register early to ensure your entry! Start Line Note: The last start is at 7:39 (for slower walkers, and families with strollers). THERE IS NO LATE START! Plan to be at the Zoo NO LATER than 7:00am to have time to park, pick up your bibs, go to the bathroom, etc. before the start. Chase compassion Thanksgiving morning with an inclusive family friendly 5k to benefit animals! Presented by Northwest VEG, The Tofurky Trot is back with a new scenic and accessible course for 2026! Starting and finishing at OMSI in SE Portland, the Trot will start off crossing the Tilikum Bridge, then head north up the west side waterfront path. After turning around, trotters will first head south, then cross the Hawthorne Bridge before closing the loop by trotting south on the Eastbank Esplanade back to OMSI. WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2026: All Are Welcome: Kids, seniors, strollers, and leashed dogs are encouraged to join the fun. It’s not about speed — it’s about celebrating compassion together.Costume Contest: Get festive! Dress up for the Tofurky-themed costume contest and show off your holiday spirit.Meet the Cause: Representatives from local farm animal sanctuaries — the event’s beneficiaries will be present to connect with participants and share their mission.Boka Marimba will be warming trotters up with their high energy African style marimba music from 8:00am-8:45amEnjoy post trot snacks after finishing. The triumphant return of a holiday classic. A festive 5K exuding the holiday spirit! HoHo's and Snoballs (Hostess) to all finishers. Dress up encouraged and, keeping with tradition, there will be free trees AND THE FRUITCAKE!! IYKYK!! Get in the spirit and bring canned food and jackets/blankets and come out for a great 5K run and walk! Also collecting cat and dog food for the humane society! Friendly dogs are welcome. Late registration and number pick-up will begin at 8 AM race morning. Bring some warm clothes to change into so you can enjoy the festive post event fun!
