The Mandan Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4984 proudly presents the return of the Through the Smoke Road Race. The race will kick off at the Mandan Firefighters Training Grounds 629 24th Ave. SE Mandan, ND and wind through the Lakewood area of Mandan on June 6th at 09:00. Events include a family-friendly 5K (dogs, and strollers welcome), a competitive 5K and 10K, and a kids’ half-mile race for ages 10 and under. All proceeds benefit the Mandan Firefighters by funding new fitness equipment and advanced training opportunities with leaders from across the United States. Access to proper fitness equipment and high-quality training supports both physical performance and mental resilience, helping firefighters manage stress, build confidence, and maintain long-term well-being. Mandan Rodeo Days 4th of July Road RaceA Tradition That Runs Through the Heart of Mandan Presented by Bismarck Magazine and Visit Mandan Kick off your Independence Day in Mandan, North Dakota, with a fun, family-friendly tradition—the Mandan Rodeo Days 4th of July Road Race! This noncompetitive 5K Run/Walk is the only race that uses the entire length of Mandan’s historic Main Street—offering a truly unique course and experience. Starting at the intersection of 3rd Ave NW and West Main Street, participants run west to 10th Ave NW before turning around and heading east all the way to just before Burger King, then returning to the Mandan Depot finish line. Thousands of parade-goers line the route, creating an energizing atmosphere filled with cheers and celebration. Lyons-Heart Gravel Classic — July 11, 2026 • Mandan, North Dakota A premier gravel event carved along the Heart River: choose the 35-mile non-competitive ride, 65-mile race, or 100-mile test of endurance. Celebrate at the downtown Mandan finish line with live music, vendors, and community festivities.   We took a favorite local gravel route shaped by the Heart River and expanded it to give cyclists a fresh opportunity to explore North Dakota’s rolling landscape. Expect winding descents through the Lyon’s Den, punchy climbs that prove North Dakota isn’t flat, and long stretches of scenic gravel that reward pacing and line choice. The course was designed for fast riding, spectator opportunities, and an unforgettable finish in downtown Mandan — Where the West Begins.
