RELEASE THE KRAKEN April 3, 2027 | Long Beach, California 5K • 10K • 18 Mile • 50K The Kraken has been released—and it’s calling you to the coast. Take on a fast, scenic beachfront course at Release the Kraken, featuring distances for everyone from casual 5K runners to athletes ready to conquer 30 miles. The 18-mile and 50K races begin at 6:30 AM and follow a six-mile loop from the start, down the beach path to Gaucho Beach at Alamitos Beach, and back. 18 Mile: Three 6-mile loops 50K: Five 6-mile loops plus One 1.07 out and back Time limit: Six hours Course closes: 12:30 PM All 18-mile and 50K participants must complete their distance within the six-hour course limit. The legendary Chupacabra has made its way to the beach—and this time, you’re not running away from it. You’re chasing it for 31 miles. Welcome to the Chupacabra 50K, a flat, fast and fully supported beachfront endurance event built for runners ready to go beyond the half marathon, chase a new distance, or take on their first ultra. Whether you're tackling the 5K, 10K, stepping up to 18 miles, or going all the way to 50K, choose your distance and get ready to hunt the legend. 18 MILE + 50K The 18-mile and 50K races begin at 6:30 AM and follow a six-mile beachfront loop from the start, along the Long Beach pedestrian path to Alamitos Beach and back. 18 Mile: Three 6-mile loops 50K: Five 6-mile loops + 1.07-mile out-and-back Time Limit: 6 hours Course Closes: 12:30 PM All 18-mile and 50K participants must complete their distance within the six-hour course limit. 5K + 10K The 5K and 10K begin at 8:00 AM, bringing even more runners and energy to the beachfront course while our ultra runners continue their hunt. 🔥 BEAST MODE — HYBRID 5K CHALLENGE Saturday, November 6, 2027 | Long Beach, CA Challenge combines a 5K run with four fitness challenges designed to test your strength, endurance, and determination. Run your 5K, enter the Hybrid Zone, complete all four challenges, then earn your way across the finish line. 📍 Location: 5400 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90803 ⏰ Event Start: 8:00 AM 🏃 THE CHALLENGE Complete the 5K run first, then enter the Hybrid Zone: JUMP — 80m Burpee Broad Jumps Chest to the ground. Get up. Broad jump forward. Repeat for 80 meters. LUNGE — 100m Walking Lunges Keep moving forward through the entire marked 100-meter zone. CARRY — 100m Sandbag Carry Pick it up and carry it through the complete 100-meter course. SQUAT — 100 Bodyweight Squats No equipment. Just you and 100 squats between you and the finish.
