Races

The Arkansas Ultra Running Association is a 501(c)(3) organization that began in 1989.  We organize, host or designate a number of races and fun runs to be included in our Ultra Trail Series each year, from June through May.  We are unique in that many of our events are free/donation based with our directors volunteering their time.  This saves our runners money and frees up more funds to be donated to the communities that serve us.  Winners of the UTS or UTS LITE (aka Kings and Queens of the Trail) are crowned at the completion of the series.  The award ceremony and post race party is typically held at the Catsmacker, our final fun run of the UTS season. It is a party nobody wants to miss!  The 2025-2026 Ultra Trail Series registration will open here after the final UTS race at Mt. Welcome to the 35th running of the Ouachita Trail 50 Endurance Run! We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.  All donations and profits for this event will go to Pinnacle Mountain State Park.  The OT50 was started by a group of early Arkansas ultra runners who came together, drew from their various ultra race experiences, and committed to putting on a quality fifty miler in Arkansas. As the oldest enduring Arkansas Ultra Running Association event, that intent lives on. The 50 mile and 50 km runs feature a picturesque climb over Pinnacle Mountain followed by an out-and-back traversing the rolling hills along the north shore of beautiful Lake Maumelle. The CALL in Pulaski County is ready to IGNITE HOPE within the community to bring awareness to the foster care crisis. This race will be a fundraising event for The CALL as we continue to recruit, train and support foster and adopt families. There are over 400 children and teens in foster care just in Pulaski County alone, and less than 150 homes open to care for them. On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Pulaski Heights Middle School PTSA will host the 10th anniversary of the Panther Prowl 5K. The race begins at 8:00 am.  The Panther Prowl 5K begins at Pulaski Heights Middle School, runs through Knoop Park and historic Hillcrest and ends back at PHMS. The MacArthur Park 5K is an annual race in downtown Little Rock coordinated by the MacArthur Park Group, Little Rock Parks & Recreation and Downtown Little Rock Partnership.  The 3.1 mile race (5K) begins from the North Lawn (9th Street) of MacArthur Park in front of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. Proceeds from this year’s race will support continued efforts to make much needed improvements to MacArthur Park. Packet pick up is from 5 p.m.- 6:45p.m. on Friday, May 1st on the North Lawn directly in front of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. You will receive your t-shirt, bib and chip. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION The Scorchin’ Squirrel is a trail race through Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center’s 1200 acres located just 10 miles west of Little Rock.  There are 4 distance options: a 10kish (1 loop), 11.5 mile (2 loops), 15.5 mile (3 loops) or 19.5 mile (4 loops). All distances are approximate.  Each loop passes through 1 full aid station and one water drop.   There will be refreshments at the end with a cook out at the pool.  Please bring stuff to share although Fleet Feet Little Rock and Ferncliff will provide burgers and hot dogs.  We will begin serving food at 10 AM.  No glass containers please.  No pets. This is a great race for heat training and for trying out trail running with the shorter distances.  There is quite a bit of incline (heheh) throughout the course and a few water crossings in wet weather. The 13th Annual Omega Prostate/Colon Cancer Awareness 5K Run/ Walk is a race event for which all the proceeds are donated in support of The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, American Cancer Society and scholarships for High School students. We are grateful for the continued opportunity to raise money to help these two organization and continue to provide scholarships to deserving high school students.  With  the support of the community, last year we increased our participants to over 267 runners and walkers and we were able to raise $5,715.62 above expenses that has been distributed to support the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, the American Cancer Society and scholarships for deserving high school students through the Omegas of Greater Little Rock, Incorporated non- profit corporation.  These organizations greatly appreciate the support that you gave to last year’s event. We’re back for Year 2! Join us for the 2nd Annual 5K Walk/Run for Breast Cancer Awareness, hosted by Dr. Kim Leverett — breast cancer survivor and owner of A Kick Above: A Personal Training Studio.  Kim spent 10 years as a full-time pharmacist before following her passion for fitness and wellness. She transitioned into personal training to help others move beyond managing symptoms to truly living well. In 2013, after a routine mammogram, Kim was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her treatment included six rounds of chemotherapy and 35 rounds of radiation. Remarkably, throughout her treatment, she continued to train clients and maintain her own workouts — often without anyone knowing what she was facing. Kim credits her faith in Christ, her fitness foundation, and the support of her clients for carrying her through.
