Operation Ruck the Bayou will be hosted on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at Saint Arnold Brewery in Houston, TX. This event will support The Joshua Chamberlain Society's Houston Chapter. The Joshua Chamberlain Society (“JCS”) is a grass roots, 501(c)(3) federally tax exempt charity that was formed with the mission of providing long term support to veterans from local areas that have sustained permanent combat injuries fighting the long war on terror for our nation. It also provides long term support to the children of local veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in our service. Founded in St. Louis, Missouri it has now expanded into additional chapters serving the Nashville, Tennessee and Houston, Texas areas. Each chapter runs independently so donors know their contributions stay with their local JCS Heroes. When American service members are severely wounded in combat, their lives are changed forever. Coach Zarate has coached at the collegiate level for 13 years, six of which he was the Head Coach (Texas Lutheran University). Coach Zarate is entering his 15th year coaching at Pearland Dawson High School. Coach Zarate was named the NCAA National Coach of the Year and NCAA Regional Coach of the Year in 2008 as well as the American Southwest Conference Coach of the Year in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Coach Zarate is USATF Level 1 and 2 certified and is USATF Cross Country Specialist certified. The 9/11 Heroes Run 5K welcomes runners, ruckers, and walkers of all ages and fitness levels to honor the heroes of 9/11 and those who've served our nations since. We activate & unite communities and empower local veterans, active duty, first responders, and families of the fallen. TMF is proud to partner with GORUCK again with rucking divisions at every run. Rucking is a sport based on special forces training in which participants walk or run while carrying weighted rucksacks.
