Come Join us for the second Annual Monster Mash Mile Fun Run. Looking to test your speed or just enjoy a morning stroll. Then come join us for our Monster Mash Mile in Downtown Hilo at Wailoa State Park. *** Wear your best costume in celebration of Halloween:) *Date: October 31, 2026 with a 9:00 am start for the 1 mile event and 9:30 am start for the kid’s shorter distance race.  **Location: Wailoa State Park in Downtown Hilo, Pavilion 2. ***Awards: top 3 male and female mile times. Top 1 of Best Costume male and female. Top 1 of stroller male and female. All kids will receive a prize for the kids race. ****Fees: Free for BIRR members and kids12 years and under (fee will drop off in the registration) / $10 donation for non-members. ***Note the "kids" race for those 12 and under will be a 400 yard event:) ** Snacks and water provided. * Co-Sponsored with Hilo Run Club

Aloha. Join us for Big Island Road Runners' Annual Charity Turkey Trot on November 26, 2026 at our new location - BAY FRONT PARK. This is a free event where we are requesting, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, donations. Any monetary donation will be given to Hilo Food Bank, and all food donations will be given to Malia Puka O Kalani food pantry. KTA has generously given us ten $20 gift certificates to go to the first 10 people who donate $50 or more. You can do this when you get to the donation section in the registration process. All food donations will be collected on the day of the race. Please donate canned and boxed items that are sealed. This Race will begin at 7:30 am Sharp at BAY FRONT PARK. Same route just new start and finish area:) COME EARLY TO PICK UP YOUR BIB NUMBER:) This is a fun run to celebrate and be grateful for family, friends, community, and our great fortune to live here in Hawaii. The course will be staged near the Puna Canoe club at Hilo Bay. Start, Finish and pancake breakfast to follow will be in the block of street behind Puna Canoe club. The course will start at the staging area, Take you towards Keaukaha along Lili’uokalani Gardens, turning around across the Mazda/Subaru car dealership and back to staging area. Early packet pick up is encouraged and will be at Puna canoe club on Friday, December 18 from 3 to 5 PM Race day packet pick up starts at 6:30 AM Saturday morning Race starts at 7:30 AM and pancake breakfast follows your finish. The ladies of the Puna Canoe will be volunteering with this event as an off-season fundraiser event for the long distance program. So if you see a paddler, tell them they better start running!, And if you are a runner maybe consider paddling!,

The annual Hilo to Volcano 50K Run/Walk/Relay is on Saturday January 9, 2027. Hilo to Volcano 50K ultra and team relay is a challenging 31 mile run gaining approximately 4000 feet in elevation. It is challenging, an excellent accomplishment……………and super fun as a relay😊 The start will be at the underground parking lot of the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel on Banyan Drive, Hilo (same as last year). Solo Runners AND Relay Team Runners: Start is at 6:00 am. This course utilizes shoulders on Hwy 11 and finishes at the Cooper Center in Volcano. Relay teams change runners every 2 miles at the even mile markers. There are no aid stations along the course, so runners are encouraged to bring their own water and nourishment. A light lunch, snacks, drinks and medals at the end. Prizes for Solo Runners: Top 3 Female and Male runners overall, Top 2 Female and Male runners in each 10 year age group. Prizes for Relay Teams with no more than 3 Runners: Top 2 Female, Male and Mixed relay teams up to 40 years, Top 2 Female, Male and Mixed “Masters” relay teams over 40 years (all members must be over 40 years old). Prizes for Family and Student Relay Teams (no limit on team size): Top 2 Family relay teams (must be from same family), Top 2 Student relay teams (must all be high school students or younger). Race ends at 2pm. Packet Pickup will be at the Hilo Hawaiian day before race, January 8th, 2027 between 3-5:30pm and race morning between 5:30-5:50am. Sorry no day of race registration.
