Step UP for Down syndrome is our signature community awareness and fundraising event designed to bring the community together to show support and solidarity with individuals with Down syndrome. The RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile), along with the 5 & Under 400m Express Run, has held the record for the largest timed youth road race in Richmond for 15 years!  With both in-person and virtual race options, an adult race, condensed start times, and a fall festival, this event provides a family-friendly day of racing. The course is entirely closed to traffic and encircles Regency Square Mall.  This year, we have a kid’s mile, parent’s mile, and a 400m race for ages 5 & under.  After the race, make sure to stick around and enjoy our Fall Festival complete with candy, games, activities from our sponsors, and more! The races are organized into a series of heats (or waves) based on age and gender to keep each race competitive and fun for everyone. When you register, you’ll automatically be assigned to the correct heat for your age group. Then look no further than the Sports Backers Marathon Training Team, designed to motivate and train individuals to run the Allianz Richmond Marathon. You’ll find yourself not just equipped with a detailed 23-week program, but a great crew of experienced coaches and inspirational teammates as well. One of our favorite perks? A dedicated SAG team that supports the weekend group runs. That’s right… water stops, Nuun, gels, and snacks while you TRAIN. So let Richmond’s running community carry you to 26.2… when you hit that final stretch at the Allianz Richmond Marathon, you’ll be glad you didn’t go it alone!

🦖 Join the Jurassic Jog! The Richmond T. Rex Run is a FREE, 0.4-mile fun run at Dorey Park on Sunday, November 16 at 2 PM. Suit up in your best dino costume (inflatable T. Rex encouraged!) and waddle, sprint, or stomp your way around the lake. No timing, no winners—just big laughs, tiny arms, and a prehistoric good time! This is a FREE event, but we encourage participants to donate to Richmond Road Runners Club (RRRC). Your support helps us keep races affordable, provide community running resources, and fund scholarships and grants.

Whether you are excited to jump start your fitness journey or you are ready to up your game by adding some more intense workouts into your training schedule, the YMCA 10k Training Team is for you! You will train with motivational coaches and teammates every Saturday morning at one of several locations throughout the Richmond Region. Our team of amazing coaches will be with you every step of the way to the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k presented by Kroger finish line on April 18. Camaraderie, accountability, fun and so much more awaits!

The Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k presented by Kroger is RVA’s favorite spring tradition! Since 2000, people from around the Richmond region and beyond have gathered to share in the journey of crossing the 10k finish line. The 10k is a day about togetherness and we look forward to bringing the community together again for the 27th running of the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k. Walk with your family, reunite with your running buddies, or cross the finish line in costume...just don't miss the silver anniversary because it's going to be the BIGGEST block party ever!
