The '89er 5K is hosted by the cadets in the '89er Battalion, Guthrie High School JROTC. The Guthrie JROTC program is the first JROTC program in the State of Oklahoma, dating back to 1935. As a 5K, we encourage competitive runners, recreational runners, and walkers; walk your dog, push a stroller, or simply enjoy the fellowship of your friends and neighbors. This is a community event hosted by the students in JROTC. Run proceeds support educational and leadership training opportunities for the students in JROTC.    This year's '89er day race theme is BOOMTOWN, celebrating Guthrie's legendary boom - from 10 to 10,000 in one day. Come run the boom!    LOCATION: The Start/Finish line is at Honor Park in Downtown Guthrie, near 301 West Harrison Avenue, across from the Oklahoma Publishing Museum.   Course: USAT Certified Course: OK24012MU   PARKING: NOTICE!!!! For those that have never competed in my events they take place at Guthrie Lake - this is a no wake lake that only allows boats to troll. Located at Mitchell Park - Guthrie Lake This is the seventh year for this event  Always a great time of year to end your season and it is the last race of the year in the great state of Oklahoma (including KS, MO and AR) Great lake (no wake) in a protected cove. This is the most spectator friendly swim in the state allowing the Athletes supporters to walk the shoreline for the entirety of the distance always knowing where they are. Great kayak support The bike course is a very challenging course for all the distances ending with a very fast run course. This course has multiple loops making it a very spectator friendly course all the way to the finish line. Come work up your Turkey Day appetites on Thanksgiving morning and join the American Legion LeBron Post 58 Family for their annual TURKEY TROT!  This race is presented by The American Legion LeBron Post 58 Family.  Stay after the race for donuts and hot chocolate! 🍪🍵   The American Legion's mission is to enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness. The American Legion's vision statement is "The American Legion: Veterans Strengthening America."  The American Legion Auxiliary is made up of the male and female spouses of Veterans, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion.    Register by Sunday, November 10th to be guaranteed the option of a t-shirt add on.
