Whether you’re pursuing a personal record or taking your first courageous step to run long-distance, the Highlands College Half Marathon offers an inclusive, community race weekend for runners from every walk of life and experience level.

Railway Marathon & Half Marathon presented by CraneWorks

Looking for a fast, certified race with a great chance for a PR?  This event is for you!  This race is great for carbon shoes too! Starting at Black Creek Park in Fultondale, AL, this marathon & half marathon will be held on the Five Mile Creek Greenway, a rails-to-trail project located 15 minutes north of Birmingham. Runners will race through the Cities of Fultondale, Gardendale, and Brookside on this relatively flat, fast course.   The event is a USATF certified (Boston Qualifier), chip timed and fast!  We venture to say it is one of the fastest marathon and half marathon routes in Alabama! Take a look at the results tab we held on this course back in 2020 and 2024-2026 to see for yourself how fast this course is! February 20, 2027 Come join us at beautiful Black Creek Park trail in Fultondale for the 5th Annual Awaken Recovery Run, on February 20, 2027! Whether it's a way to start or keep moving, a tune-up for other races down the line, or a chance to show off your elite speed, the Awaken Recovery Run is a great place to join others to race/run/walk for a great cause.   Awaken is a Birmingham-based nonprofit, helping people live the lives they were created for, free from addiction and relational trauma.
