Madison River Run - Spring Hatch 5K

The Madison River Run is a fun-run 5K that meanders through the cowboy town of Ennis, Montana, from the local high school to the Blue-Ribbon Madison River in Lions Club Park. The inaugural year was 1997, and we are still going strong. Starting in 2026, we have changed and improved upon the course! The Impossible Mile

Founded in 2026, and brought to you by The Greater Yellowstone Adventure Series and CrossFit StoneFly, THE IMPOSSIBLE MILE is an Independence Day workout tradition in cowboy town Ennis, Montana, engaging both residents and visitors alike. We laugh together, and cry together, as we take on versions of this famous workout. Come join us and build strength, character, and common purpose. A portion of the proceeds benefits the local Ennis schools via the Ennis Booster Club. Thank you for your generosity.

Madison Marathon

Ennis, MT
The Madison Marathon is a high-altitude gravel test that tracks the famous Gravelly Range Road, putting racers in position to gawk at incredible geology like Black Butte and wildlife like Pronghorn and Mule Deer. The inaugural year was 2008, and we are still wowing registrants. The course never drops below 8,300 feet, yet peaks at Monument Ridge – over 9,500 feet above sea level. Choose the “half” if you just want to get acclimated your first year. Big Sky Marathon

Ennis, MT
The Big Sky Marathon is a high-altitude, downhill quad-burner that descends the Gravelly mountain range en route to the Blue-Ribbon Madison River. Racers log a total descent of nearly 4,900 feet at finish, and a net descent of over 3,800 feet. The inaugural year was 2015, and the BSM has quickly become our most popular test. Ninety-six percent (96%) of the trek is on unpaved, packed and loose gravel. Tour de Gravelly

Ennis, MT
The Tour de Gravelly (The Beast) is a high-altitude, 60.7-mile Gravel Grinder that traverses up and over the Gravelly mountain range into the Ruby Valley. Racers will boast a total ascent of over 7,600 feet, peaking at Monument Ridge. By the finish, the records will show a net ascent of nearly 1,200 feet. The “up” is front-loaded in the course, making for a lightening fast, white-knuckler into the approach to Vigilante Cabin. While seemingly standing still on the climb, enjoy the wildlife, scenery, and geology of The Last Best Place. The inaugural year was 2017, and the best is yet to come as we draw from a broader, badass clientele. Madison Triathlon

Ennis, MT
The Madison Triathlon is an Olympic-distance triathlon with a net descent of 660 feet. Athletes begin the event in the Madison River-fed Ennis Lake, followed by a bike leg that takes them up and over Norris Hill (more like a mountain with an 800-foot climb). The final 10-kilometer run features a gradual, gut-checking uphill test to the finish line at the famous Pony Bar. Unlike other GYAS races, this triathlon course is 93% paved, and the gravel that does exist is well-packed. The inaugural year was 2012.
