IF YOU HAVE A FOREVER BIB THERE IS NO NEED TO REGISTER.  YOU ARE ALREADY PRE-REGISTERED EACH MONTH. RACE STARTS AT 8:00 A.M.   THE START LINE CLOSES AT 8:05 A.M. This is a 2 mile race held the first Saturday of each month.  You are running against your handicap, which is computed from your previous results for the last two years. The first time you run this event, you'll establish a base time for yourself. This base time is used to generate a handicap time. The handicap time is calculated using an algorithm developed by Bob Royse, and it's geared to favor a beginning runner and the slower runners. Click here for an explanation of the handicap algorithm. Once you have an established handicap, you are racing against your handicap time. The person who improves the most from their handicap time is the winner.  As mentioned before, the handicap does favor a beginning runner or a slower runner who is putting in a lot of quality training time, as it's these types of runners who te

How the Prediction Run Works Submit your estimated 5K finish time when registering. Instead of a single mass start, we use a countdown clock set to the slowest predicted time. Staggered Start: Slower runners start first, middle-of-the-pack runners follow, and the fastest runners start last. If everyone predicts perfectly, everyone finishes at the exact same time. The Blind Finish: Once the last runner starts, the clock is covered. You will not see the time as you approach the finish line, so you won't know whether to sprint or slow down.Gauge Your Strategy: Running completely alone late in the race means your prediction was off. Crossing the line surrounded by a crowd means you nailed your estimate.   Start Time Examples (10:00 AM Base) The clock starts counting down from 50:00 at 10:00 AM. Your predicted time dictates your exact start time: 50+ Minutes: Starts before 10:00 AM50 Minutes: Starts at 10:00 AM40 Minutes: Starts at 10:10 AM30 Minutes: Starts at 10:20 AM Race Rules &a

This is a sensational course. Phenomenal views, and an overall super challenging but brutally fun course - roads are approx. 80% Gravel and Dirt, 20% paved or bike paths. Starting at Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort, the course goes directly into the Garden of the Gods.  The short course takes one loop around the Garden, then up Rampart Range Road to top of Rampart Range lookout, and turns around to ride back down to the Lodge.  The Long Course keeps going past the turnaround, and has 13 miles of forest road, jeep trail and single track. The Long Course is beautiful but challenging, you must have decent gravel bike handling skills to make it through.
