Can you Finish before the Turkey?! A YMCA Staff member, dressed as a Turkey, will also be entered in our race and given a slight head start. Catch the Turkey and be entered into the grand prize raffle. Who will be the Turkey this year? Anyone who beats the Turkey will have their name entered into our raffle a delicious dessert! Walkers are encouraged to participate! Number pickup and Day of Registration will be on Sunday, November 29 from 8:00-8:45am at the Mount Desert Island YMCA. This race is capped at 150 participants. If we have spots remaining, we will have Race Day Registration on Nov 29, from 8:00-8:45am. Cost on Race Day is $30. This race sold out before race day last year. All participants 17yrs and older need a park pass. All proceeds benefit the Mount Desert Island YMCA. Have a Happy & Safe Thanksgiving!

Course features breathtaking view of Acadia National Park and Maine’s rocky coastline. It is a Spectacular 13.1 mile course traveling on the scenic Acadia National Park Loop road. The third largest island on the eastern seaboard, Mount Desert Island boasts an impressive 41,000 acres of land devoted to the Northeast’s only National Park, Acadia - an amazing array of mountains and sea, cliffs and coastline. *** There is NO RACE DAY packet pickup. *** The Mount Desert Island YMCA is committed to environmentally conscious and sustainable racing, as our course travels through Acadia National Park. A large amount of our waste is paper cups, in fact over 6000 cups per race! We are making steps over the next few years to move to "cupless" events. For 2026, we are encouraging participants to bring their own reusable cup, handheld water bottle or hydration pack. We will still have paper cups at all 6 water stations this year, but with your help we can start reducing our waste and impact

Kick off your July 4th Celebrations in Bar Harbor with the Firecracker 5k! The course is flat and fast and finishes adjacent to the Bar Harbor ballfields where the Bar Harbor Rotary hosts their delicious pancake breakfast. Run fast, Eat blueberry pancakes and watch the Independence Day Parade! The first 50 participants to register will receive a patriotic race shirt. All finishers will receive a prize. Top 3 overall male and female finishers will receive awards. This race benefits the Mount Desert Island YMCA. Happy Independence Day!
