Registration is open for the 2026 Streaking in Sneakers - Vac & Dash Streaker Club Challenge  Streakers Come From Here and There!  Streakers Come From Everywhere!  We had 14 states & Guam  represented in last year's Streaker Challenge. The 2026 Streaking in Sneakers - Vac & Dash Streaker Club Challenge Starts January 1st!  Run at least a mile a day each and every day in 2026 and earn a Streaking in Sneakers Sweatshirt or Cool Max Shirt and Medal! To those that earn the Vac & Dash Streaker Club Sweatshirt and Medal, if you live outside of Stanly County in North Carolina, we will ship your Streaker Sweatshirt and Medal to you at no charge!   The Vac & Dash Streakers Club was formed in 2016 to motivate runners to achieve their goal of running at least a mile a day, each and every day of the year.  Throughout the year, you will receive motivation to keep you moving, including a chance to win prizes as long as you are still streaking.  At the end of the year, those

2026 Mile Crushers Club

Join us for the 2026 Mile Crushers Club - Mileage Challenge. It's time to register for how many miles you will run/walk, cycle and swim in 2026.  The goal of this challenge is to keep you motivated and moving throughout the year. This challenge is open to anyone and is sponsored by the Uwharrie Brewing Running Club in Albemarle, NC. Please note: Running and walking counts one mile for each mile covered.  Biking: Every 3-miles counts for one mile.  Swimming: Every 1 mile of swimming counts as 3 miles. Pick a Goal: 500, 750, 1,000, 1,250, 1,500, 1,750, 2,000, 2026, or 2,500 miles.  In this challenge, t-shirts are earned.  You will receive your long sleeved t-shirt once you achieve your mileage. Start It, Stanly! Hike It! - Spring 2026 session

We are continuing the Start It, Stanly! Health and Wellness Series, HIKE IT! for a Spring 2026 session. Atrium Health Stanly has partnered with Morrow Mountain State Park to provide this exciting opportunity.  Come by yourself, with a friend, family, or bring a whole group to enjoy the chance to get away from technology while being physically active.  Sign up for these FREE sessions today!   Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and most importantly, trail appropriate shoes.  Flip Flops, sandals and open toed shoes are NOT appropriate.  In the event of inclement weather, we will send an email to participants. Uwharrie 5 Hour Adventure Race -(Bike & Hike)

JUNE 7th 2025 Saturday Morrow Mountain State Park, North Carolina. Shelter in the upper parking lot. Disciplines: Hiking (5-7 miles), and Biking (3-6 miles) This adventure race is designed to help the folks new to adventure racing get their feet wet in the sport and to challenge veteran racers who have limited time to race. Racers will hike and bike to collect a series of checkpoints. Race pace for an adventure racer is around 4-5 miles an hour. Racers will use pre-plotted CalTopo maps to navigate to check points while biking and running/trekking through the state park. You can compete as a team or solo. The team of 2-4 must complete all task together, no more than 100 yards apart at any given time unless specifically identified by the race director. Check Points will be placed on natural features hill tops, stream intersections, coves or at obvious trail intersections.   This race starts and finishes at the picnic shelter. Uwharrie 12 Hour Adventure Race 2026

Morrow Mountain State Park  Hike (??miles) Bike (??miles) Paddle (??miles) To win this event you need the right amount of speed plus the determination to work the entire time. If you have not experienced racing at night this is a great way to start with only 3 hours of dark as we near the summer solstice. That means you will have 9 hours of daylight leaving you less time for getting lost. The Uwharrie Mountains were once a coastal mountain range however they are now 150 miles inland. Once entirely cleared for timber and farmland, the mountains were designated a U.S. National Forest in 1961. The woodlands have since returned, providing a haven for a diversity of wildlife and recreational opportunities.   Bring your lights!!

Passport Outdoor Program (P.O.P.)

Attention Stanly County families!! The Stanly Health Foundation and Atrium Health Stanly - Health Promotions are pleased to announce registration is open for the 11th Annual FREE Passport Outdoor Program (P.O.P.) hosted at Morrow Mountain State Park. Daniel Harkey, Passport to Health instructor, will lead P.O.P as participants explore the hiking trail system at Morrow Mountain. Although this program is primarily an exercise opportunity, participants will also discover many positive attributes to living an active lifestyle including healthy snack and lunch ideas. All participants will be provided with FREE healthy snacks during the hikes and a FREE healthy lunch after each hike. Participants are welcome to bring their own water and containers if they prefer, but FREE bottled water will also be provided to all participants. Uwharrie Brewing Firehouse 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk

Join us on Saturday October 3rd, 2026 at 9:00 am for the 2nd running of the Uwharrie Brewing Firehouse Walk/Run 5K and 1 Miler. All participants who sign up by October 1st will receive a Race T-Shirt.  All participants over 21 will receive a complimentary Uwharrie Beer at the end of the race, participants under 21 or who prefer a non alcoholic beverage will have a choice of soft drinks, Coffee, Tea or Lemonade. This race will be celebrating the old Firehouse, the Firehouse red ale beer, Albemarle Fire Department and Fire Prevention Week (October 4th to October 10th).  The official theme for Fire Prevention Week 2026. Packet Pickup will be On Oct 2nd at Uwharrie Brewing from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  There will also be a packet pick up the day of the race. Runners, Walkers, and Strollers are welcome.
