If you have not experienced racing at night this is a great way to start with only 3 hours of dark as we near the summer solstice. That means you will have 9 hours of daylight leaving you less time for getting lost. The Uwharrie Mountains were once a coastal mountain range however they are now 150 miles inland. Once entirely cleared for timber and farmland, the mountains were designated a U.S. National Forest in 1961. The woodlands have since returned, providing a haven for a diversity of wildlife and recreational opportunities.   Bring your lights!!
