New Year 5K & 10K, Midlothian, VA (01)

Midlothian, VA
US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. EMS is not stationed on site, and water stations are limited to the finish area at the end of each lap and at the race finish. Please plan for the weather, bring anything you may want between laps, and check in with race staff if you need help. View Race Course, Results, and Race Information on the US Road Running race page.

Burke Creek Barn Burner - 5K & 15K

Palmyra, VA
Brace yourselves for our next adventure at the Burke Creek Barn Burner Trail Race! As they say, third time is the charm, and we can hardly be more excited. We have sent notices to our previous venders to start putting together their best race prizes, finish line fare, and overall stoke! We know winter running isn't always easy, but that's what makes it fun, right? You'll get to run through some amazing scenery, and yeah, it might be a bit chilly, but that just means you'll warm up faster! Don't worry if you're new to trail running - this race is for everyone. Old pros, first-timers, and everyone in between are welcome. We're all about having a good time out there. So what do you say? Ready to join us for some winter trail action? It'll be a blast, we promise. Plus, you'll have some great stories to tell afterward. Come on, lace up those running shoes and let's hit the trails together! Community Art Contest! New for this year, we're going to host an art contest for participants to submit their designs for a 3" round sticker. The winning sticker will be printed and included as a finisher prize for all participants. Participants who submit a design will receive a discount of $5 off their registration fee (code: Sticker2027), and the winner will receive a FREE race entry (as provided through a refund). The process will include: accept designs through 10/23/26 followed by public voting (likely through Instagram/participant email/Google form) from 10/26/26 - 11/1/26. To participate, please upload a copy of your design (pdf or image file) to the designated link during race registration. If you wish to participate in the sticker contest after registering, please reach out for additional options (but I think you can simply go back and "edit" your registration and include the file then. This will be the first year trying this out, so let's see what happens! Please keep the submissions appropriate though... Note for the Winter Series! Also new for this year! We're providing a coordinated effort between the three Winter Series events, Burke Creek Barn Burner, Walnut Creek 5 and Dime (first of February), and Naked Creek 10k/25k (first of March). Participants in each event will receive a commemorative prize, at no additional cost, regardless of the distance completed! You can run any combination of the race distances across the three events, but will need to register for each event separately, and we're going to do our best to keep track of everyone participating. Winter Series Training Series! There will be an informal set of training runs kicking off early-mid December for those local to Charlottesville. This will consist of Saturday morning jaunts around local parks, neighborhoods, gravel roads, mountain trails, etc. These training runs will kick-off at about 6 miles and increase in distance from there, all in an effort to prepare for the Naked Creek 25k (and participate in the BCBB and Walnut Creek races along the way). They will generally run as a no-drop excursion offering everyone the opportunity to explore the local goods. Check out the CATs website for additional details. Race Day Schedule 7:30 AM - Race Day check-in opens8:00 AM - Coffee Truck opens9:00 AM - 15k Start (please show up at least 20 minutes prior to the start to check-in)10:00 AM - 5k Start (same note)~11:00 AM - Awards (Starting with 5k then 15k) Start/Finish Experience There will be hot drinks available (either a local vendor or instant tea/coffee packs)Local Eats will be providing finish line fare There will be gluten free and vegan options Race Notes Please note that race day registration is available, but please register in advance to ease the RD's nerves. Medal Madness 5K & 10K at Midlothian, VA (07)

Half Donkey (Half/10k/5k)

Alexandria, VA
Saturday, March 6, 2027 · Jones Point Park, Alexandria, VA Race in the morning, parade in the afternoon. All three distances start and finish at Jones Point Park, under the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and run out and back on the paved Mount Vernon Trail along the Potomac. The course is flat and fast, with the river beside you most of the way, and there are no road closures and no traffic to cross. Finish, collect your medal, and walk about a mile north into Old Town for the Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade, which steps off at noon. Bring your family and make a day of it. Every runner is tracked live on Geo.Racing, so your people can wait in Old Town and know exactly when to head down to the finish. Start times: Half marathon at 8:00 AM, 10K at 8:30 AM, 5K at 9:00 AM. Packet pickup opens at 7:00 AM at the park. The starts are staggered so every distance finishes well before the parade. Every entry includes: a race shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing and results, aid stations on the trail, and live tracking. Awards go to the top three men and women at each distance. Good to know: walkers are welcome at every distance; half marathon walkers should plan to finish by 3:00 PM. Parking at Jones Point Park is limited and Old Town fills up early on parade day, so carpool or come by bike. The trail stays open to others, so keep right and pass on the left. 2026 Don't Sit on Colon Cancer 5K & 1 Mile Walk

Virginia Beach, VA
Stand with us as a sponsor of Sentara’s annual Don’t Sit on Colon Cancer 5K & 1 mile walk, a community-driven event dedicated to saving lives through awareness, early detection, and support for those battling colon cancer. On March 28, 2026, survivors, families, medical teams, and supporters will come together not just to move their bodies, but to move change forward. Today, colon cancer is the leading cause of cancer in men under 50 and the second leading cause in women of the same age. Even more alarming, it is increasingly being diagnosed in younger adults, many of whom face advanced stages of the disease due to delayed detection. These realities underscore the critical need for increased awareness, education, and access to screening. Run or walk to remember those lost, honor those fighting, and to celebrate the survivors of Colorectal Cancer throughout Hampton Roads. Proceeds from this event directly support colorectal cancer education, increase access to screening, and provide

Don't Struggle In Silence 5k

Norfolk, VA
Race DetailsLocation: Benchtop Brewing Company (1129 Boissevain Ave. Norfolk, VA 23507)Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026Time: 8:30am - 12:00pm DescriptionThis movement was founded by Emily Sheetz, a third-year medical student at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), whose passion for mental health advocacy stems from a deeply personal place. In 2012, Emily lost her sister, Courtney, to suicide. Courtney struggled with self-harm and eating disorders for many years, and despite her family's best efforts to support her, they couldn't find a way to help. For a long time after her death, Emily and her family struggled to talk about what happened, as the stigma surrounding mental health prevented her from sharing the impact it had on her family. Now Emily shares her story without the fear of being judged or looked down upon. Losing her sister to suicide is a part of her — one she no longer carries with shame or guilt. Emily is now using her voice to show others it is okay to speak out

Everyone is welcome to participate – alumni, students, faculty, neighbors, friends, family, and anyone who wants to enjoy a great Spring morning on campus. To make sure there’s something for everyone, we’re also hosting the Captains Dash – a shorter, fun, family‑friendly race for kids of all ages. After you cross the finish line, stick around for the Blue & Silver Bash, our post‑race celebration on the lawn at the Alumni House. It’s the perfect chance to reconnect with fellow Captains and enjoy time with the broader CNU community. By participating, you’re helping to strengthen the Captain community for years to come.
