New Hope Christian School, located in Smithville, Missouri, is excited to announce their inaugural turkey trail trot 5k on November 27, 2025. This self-timed event will be a fundraiser for the school to support Christian education in Smithville. All proceeds from the race will go toward the New Hope Scholarship Fund which helps defray the cost of tuition for deserving families attending New Hope who demonstrate a financial need. This first-ever turkey trot in Smithville will be held in the Smith's Fork recreation area with ample parking near the soccer and baseball fields as well as overflow parking at Grace Community Church, just a cross MO Hwy DD. The Lake of the Ozarks Turkey Trot 5K is a family tradition held on Thanksgiving morning at Camdenton High School. 2026 will be the 17th year for this event. It's attended by many families who want to kick their holiday off with some exercise, friendly competition and camaraderie. This year we have a one mile fun run for kids and adults who don't want to do the full 5k course. The fun run begins at 7:45, the 5k at 8:30. Walk-up registration will open at 7:00am. Westport Santa Dash 5k begins at 10am on December 14, 2024! Fill the streets with holiday cheer as hundreds of Santas run through the streets of Kansas City.  Every participant will receive a long-sleeve race shirt or a Santa suit, a finisher medal (ornament), and holiday treats! Approximately 1 in 3,600 babies are diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is when the diaphragm has an incomplete formation or a hole in it. With an open diaphragm, organs such as the stomach, liver, spleen and intestines can travel through into the chest cavity preventing full development of the lungs, ultimately making it difficult for a baby to survive following birth. This 5k Walk/Run for CDH is an opportunity to not only celebrate my daughter, Dakotah's 1st full year of surviving CDH but an opportunity to bring awareness to this severe, life threatening birth defect! With your help, a donation will be presented to Tiny Hero, an organization that provides resources, knowledge, community and optimism to families with a CDH diagnosis! Help me support a great cause!
