Help us kick off National EMS Week by running or walking in the Mountainside Rescue Squad's second annual 5k fundraiser! The 13th Annual Greta’s Run for Imagine will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Roosevelt Intermediate School in Westfield, New Jersey. This year’s event will feature a USATF-certified 5K race at 9:00AM, followed by a Kids Fun Run at 10:00AM and conclude with a Memory Walk at 10:30AM.  History of the Event Greta’s Run was founded in 2012 in memory of Greta Schoenemann, a Westfield High School freshman who tragically died after sustaining injuries when a tree branch fell on her and her classmates during lunch. In 2019, Greta’s Run was proudly inherited by Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, and continues with the support of the Schoenemann family and the greater Westfield community. Each year, participants run in memory of Greta and the many loved ones our community has lost, helping to honor their stories and keep their legacies alive. The Demarest 5K is a long-standing tradition in the Northern Valley that inspire runners and spectators young and old. At our community event, children run in stride with their families and with seasoned runners from surrounding areas. After the 5K, the annual Fun Run takes place for all to participate in freely! The Principal's Challange is a gradual training program that is run at each of the Demarest elementary schools leading up to the 5K.  Demarest school children (K-8) participate and run weekly with their Principal and coaches to build healthy habits, stamina, and sportsmanship. Lastly, they participate in the 5K event with their community.

Join us for the first leg of our Tour De South Jersey. Get ready to celebrate the start of summer with the School to Pool Dash & Splash — a fun-filled race for kids ages 14 and under! The event kicks off with an exciting road run through the neighborhood from Van Zant School to the Woodstream Swim Club where athletes will compete in a fun swimming race. It's our 30th year! Join us for a seaside race on a flat, partially shaded course through scenic Avon-by-the-Sea. Clocks and water stops at each mile. Shirts guaranteed to first 1,500 registered runners. The Avon Volunteer First Aid Squad is a not-for-profit, 501c(3) organization that provides emergency medical and rescue services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at no charge, to residents and visitors to Avon-by-the-Sea. Whether you’re a competitive or recreational runner, an experienced or beginner walker, or just looking to meet up and do something fun, the Annual Randolph Rocks 5K Run/1K Fun Run is for you! Bring your friends, family and neighbors and join us to help support an amazing organization: Randolph Education Foundation (REF). REF, a nonprofit organization that supports the Randolph Township School District will host Randolph Rocks 5K/1K on May 30, 2026 at the Randolph High School Wellness Center (511 Millbrook Avenue; Randolph, NJ 07869). The 1K Fun Run begins at 8:30 AM and the 5K Race will start at 8:45 AM. Roads close at 8:15 AM so please make it to Randolph High School by 8:15 AM.  Can't make it with us in-person for the event? You're in luck! You can also register for a Virtual 5K Race instead. June of the year of 2020, Jaime Sherrick known as our Mimi was diagnosed with Stage Four Glioblastoma which is a form of Brain Cancer. In the face of Stage Four Glioblastoma, hope, faith, and strength become beacons of light guiding both Mimi and our family through the challenging journey ahead.    Mimi was full of life. Her beauty and kindness shined from the inside to the out. She loved people for who they were. She was caring, compassionate, a devoted mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Mimi truly had a gift to connect with people, understand them, and make them feel so special. This gift came from her faith and love for the Lord. She was the glue that held our family together, her smile lit up any room she walked into.    Mimi had undergone a total of three invasive surgeries as well as many rounds of Chemotherapy, Avastin, Radiation, and was involved in a Clinical Trial over the duration of just about three years. The Jaime Pinaire 5K Race & Fun Run is a community event held in memory of Jaime Pinaire—an athlete, educator, and Chatham High School graduate. Proceeds from the race benefit the James A. May 31, 2026 South Orange Rescue Squad “Sound The Siren” 5k Run / Walk & EMS Open House   The 2026 "Sound The Siren" 5K is back! Join us Sunday morning, May 31st for another fun day.   Run or walk the 5k (or a shorter 1.3 mile route), and then join us at the end where kids and adults alike can tour our ambulances, equipment and headquarters and learn about EMS in South Orange and Maplewood!   Free Food and beverages provided.    All proceeds go to providing free Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the residents of South Orange, Maplewood and the surrounding communities. The South Orange Rescue Squad is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization staffed by volunteers and funded solely by contributions from the community.
