This awesome race course is beautiful and consists of hiking trails and a few old dirt roads.  We’ve been racing at Fountainhead for over 15 years…and it continues to be a racer favorite. The race will begin and end at the Weinstein JCC, 5403 Monument Ave, and loop through the residential area across the street. The 5K starts at 9:00 am and the 1 Miler starts at 9:15 am. The 2026 Bridge & Trestle 17 Mile Run will be held on Saturday, December 13th.  The run will be entirely on the Virginia Creeper Trail, the exact course will be determined a bit closer to the race date, but hopefully we’ll be back in Damascus!! Since the course will be presented entirely online, participants are not required to live in/near or travel to the course city. REMINDER: You can take this online course from any location and from any time zone. You do not have to live in the Central Time Zone of the U.S. Day One includes topics such as principles of coaching, building a periodized training program, understanding exercise physiology for coaching, and running form. After Day One, you will be asked to sketch out training plans based on the Case Studies introduced. This informal, ungraded "homework" assignment asks you to apply materials from Day One to prepare for Day Two's group work. Day Two includes the business of coaching, sports psychology, nutrition for coaching, recognizing injuries and prevention, environmental factors that affect running performance, and building training programs as a group activity. Online Course Overview: The course will be team taught by RRCA coaching education instructors. Registration is limited to 35 participants to encourage a positive, interactive learning experience. Full attendance and participation is required during the course in order to complete the certification process. While every cohort receives the same curriculum, every cohort has a different dynamic, so the schedule may be modified to suit the specific needs of the weekend program. FedEx will ship the hard-copy course book directly to the U.S. mailing address listed in a participant's registration at no additional charge the week before the course. *The address you enter during registration must be able to accept FedEx shipments.* International participants will be contacted individually by email to discuss delivery options. Course participants will receive multiple pre-course emails from our Director of Coaching Education, Randy Accetta, with important information and reminders. Please read these emails! Instructors will email a link to participants to join the Zoom classroom several days before the course takes place. Course participants will need a computer, tablet, or phone with video and audio capabilities on a reliable internet connection. Participants should set up in a quiet space to avoid distractions and disruptions from others. Instructors will use both the audio and video functions, and will use the screen share feature to display the course slides. There will be opportunities for both written and spoken discussion and Q&A during the course. There will be small-group work on program development in breakout Zoom rooms. Instructors will take attendance at various points during both course days. The Zoom course may be recorded for the RRCA's use. A participant's course registration and attendance indicate understanding and agreement that all photos and videos will become the property of the RRCA. As part of the certification process, prospective coaches must provide proof of current CPR and First Aid certifications within 60 days after the course. The RRCA is accepting CPR and First Aid certifications that are completed online, in person, or in a hybrid format. The post-course exam will follow standard online exam protocols, in which participants are required to take the open-book exam without assistance from others. Prospective coaches will have 30 days after the course to complete the online exam. A score of 85/100 or better is required for certification. Waitlist Procedure: If a course has reached capacity, a prospective participant may register for that course's waitlist. The prospective participant will receive an email if space becomes available and will have 24 hours to complete the online registration process before the space is offered to the next person on the waitlist. Cancellation and Refund Policy: Participants may request withdrawal from a course and partial refund in the amount of $300 ($350 - $50 cancellation fee) up to 14 days before the course date. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals requested less than two weeks before a course. Email coaching@rrca.org to submit a cancellation request. Participants MAY NOT sell or give their spot to another person if they cannot attend the course. Transfers to different course cohorts are not permitted. A participant must first request withdrawal from the original course, and then re-register for the new course, if space permits.

18th Annual Sleighbell 5K Run Saturday, December 12th 2026 At: Jamestown High School 3751 John Tyler Highway Williamsburg, VA 23188. The course utilizes the Virginia Capital Trail, Powhatan Creek Trail and the Greensprings Trail. This is a 5K Run and a Competitive 5K Walk. The course is not currently USATF Certified. This race is a 2026 Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix race. A virtual Sleighbell 5K is available for those who cannot make it on race day. Virtual participants receive a race T and finisher medal. This December 2026, join us for the resurrection of the beloved Roanoke winter race: the Jingle Bell 5K! This event features a flat and (mostly) flat course along the Roanoke River Greenway with ample space at the start/finish line for celebrating the season. Finisher "medals" will be custom ornaments with the event logo and year, and participants who register by November 10 will also earn a cozy event BoCo gear beanie. This is a chip-timed race by Run Roanoke timing, and all results will be posted on the Run Roanoke website after race day as well as a day-of live text of results. Don't let the "race" name scare you away- this event is a family-friendly fitness outing! After you finish, participants may purchase coffee or hot chocolate from the Covenant Coffee truck or enjoy finish line snacks as you await your friends and family crossing the finish line. Dates: December 11th - 13th, 2026   About the event:  The Dallas White Rock Marathon is a nonprofit organization with a focus on promoting health and physical fitness through running events and related activities. Established in 1971, the history of the organization encompasses tremendous growth and produces what has become Dallas’ largest and Texas’ longest running marathon, the BMW Dallas Marathon, as well as several other weekend running and walking event options including a Half Marathon, 50K Ultra Marathon, the Relays, 10K, 5K, a 5K Team Challenge, the Friday Night Lights Mile and various Kids Races.

Frederick County Parks and Recreation is once again partnering with Runners' Retreat to bring a fun twist to one of their Thursday evening group runs! The Holiday Scavenger Hunt Fun Run is a great way to celebrate the holiday season while getting some exercise. Participants of all ages will run/walk while searching for holiday-themed items along the way. Teams will have one hour to run around, find and take photos of items then return to Runners’ Retreat. After, we will have a social get together at Vibrissa to announce the winning team who will receive a prize! Drinks and food are on your own. Details: · Teams will consist of up to 2-4 runners/walkers. · Each team will receive a list of items with assigned points. · Teams must stay together for the entire run. Once you find an item, take a photo and be sure to include your team members in the photo. Some items have BONUS points, so be sure to try to score extra! · Make sure at least one person on the team will be running with a running watch and a phone (with space for photos!). · Start your watch as soon as you leave the store and don't hit stop until you return! Just in time for Christmas, this thrilling two-loop course invites runners and walkers alike to wind through campus and the woods behind Peninsula Catholic High School, all decked out in Christmas lights and full of holiday cheer. Best of all, 100% of registration profits (after costs) will be donated to charity.   But which charity? A number of teams will be competing for a grand prize: the right to choose which charity will receive 50% of the race registration profits. No matter what, the other 50% of race profits (and donations) will go straight to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. You don't have to be a part of a team to race, walk, or donate. The event will take place on December 19, 2026, beginning at 9:30 AM with the one-mile fun run and followed by the 5K beginning at 10:00 AM.  Day of event registration at the race will be priced at $45.00 for the 5k and $25.00 for the 1 Mile Fun Run. Join us for the 8th Annual Jingle Bell 5K benefiting the Swift Creek Family YMCA Annual Campaign! Your participation helps ensure YMCA programs remain accessible to everyone in our community. In 2026, proceeds will support drowning prevention and water safety initiatives, helping provide local second-grade students with access to YMCA swim lessons. By registering, you're helping children gain lifesaving skills and confidence in the water. The event begins at 7:30 AM with the Merry Mile, a family-friendly walk on a paved course, followed by the 5K at 8:00 AM. Participants may walk, jog, or run at their own pace through the Hampton Park neighborhood. Children, strollers, dogs, and participants of all abilities are welcome on both courses. Both events start and finish at the Swift Creek Family YMCA. All participants will receive a finisher's medal and swag bag. Parking & Event Information: Free parking is available at the Swift Creek Family YMCA. This family-oriented, Superhero themed race offers a course that challenges our hardcore distance runners. Short distance runners have complimented the design of the 5K course. Walkers will still be able to enjoy the scenic vistas of historic Rocky Mount. Come dressed in your favorite superhero costume! The race begins on South Main Street and ends back at the Southern VA Child Advocacy Center with tours and refreshments! Our registration prices will increase on Monday, December 14th. US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. Join us for the 2cd annual Brenda Purcell Memorial 5K also known as Crazy's Christmas Run. The run will be held in Louisa Virginia on December 19th 2026 at 4pm. The run will start at Purcell Field which is at 208 Church Ave., Louisa Va. 23093. The course will be new and improved this year stay tuned for the unveiling of the new course! There will be a water station at the 1.5 mile marker. There will be overall cash prizes for the top 3 male and female. There will also be age group prizes for the following ages (male and female); 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59,60-69 and 70+. All participants will receive a long sleeve unisex t-shirt and all finishers will receive a medal. Walkers are welcome to come and join the fun! All proceeds from the race will go to local charitable organizations. This year we are fundraising for Luke's Landing, an inclusive playground planned for the town of Louisa. We will also be raising funds for Louisa Education Foundation's Student Success Fund. This fund helps to support all students by removing financial barriers for success. By covering the cost of specialized learning materials required for classes and basic needs students can focus on learning with confidence.
