On April 24th and 25th, two brave teams of 8 people will take on Ragnar Trail Richmond at Pocahontas State Park. The teams will complete 122.4 miles in a relay-style race. These 16 individuals will push themselves physically and mentally to complete this challenge. These awesome runners are also raising money for a worthy cause - Kids On The Move, a program of Sports Backers. Kids On The Move supports youth running and fitness clubs in the Richmond, Virginia region, giving school aged kids an opportunity to train for and participate in a local race over the course of a fall and spring season. Kids On The Move provides resources for their coaches to foster a safe and fun environment to build up their young runners' physical endurance in order to be ready for race day. This program also helps youth overcome barriers to participation by offering complimentary race entries, covering the cost of transportation to and from the events, providing team t-shirts free of cost, and even outfit

The Osprey Race is an event suitable for participants of all ages and activity levels, offering a well-marked, professionally timed race in one of Virginia’s most scenic state parks. The event is sponsored by Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Inc., a volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the use, enjoyment, and appreciation of the park. Proceeds from the race support park improvements, environmental education, wildlife-focused events, and meaningful community outreach throughout the year. Chip timing provides accurate results, with live results available immediately after finishing. Runners will enjoy post-race refreshments, including recovery drinks, fruit, and energy bars. Top overall and age group finishers for men and women will receive awards, and all participants receive a high-quality moisture-wicking performance shirt as a memento of their accomplishment. Register by Friday, April 3 to guarantee a race shirt. The Western Region 5K Walk/Run is a signature community event within the Make Moves Against Breast Cancer (MMABC) statewide campaign. Held on the scenic Huckleberry Trail in Blacksburg, this event brings together individuals, families, and local organizations to make moves in the fight against breast cancer. The Goodyear Education 5K returns for its 19th year — and this time, we’re taking off from an exciting new location: the Danville Regional Airport! Participants will kick off the race on the terminal ramp alongside the airplane hangars, enjoying a unique runway-side experience with stunning views of the airport and Averett University aircraft on display. From there, runners and walkers will head out to Stinson Drive before circling back to the airport for a high-energy finish right where they started. After crossing the finish line, stick around for awards, photo opportunities with the planes, and post-race refreshments. Heads Up! Registration will be capped at 150 participants. Gloucester Brewing Company is hosting a family-friendly 1 mile walk or run for all ages to raise money for Parkinson's research.  Participants will begin at Gloucester Brewing Company on Main Street in Downtown Gloucester, walk/run down and around the Gloucester Historic Court Circle, then back to GBC!  Proceeds will go to The Michael J. This out-and-back run starts at the park entrance and follows the paved path toward Rockfish Valley Highway. The Cause - This 5k('ish) fun run is held to honor the memory of Christian Wood, a talented young kayaker who lost his life while paddling on the James River in 2018. The proceeds from this race will be used to fund the work of Friends of the James River Park System (jamesriverpark.org), the Christian Wood Scholarship Fund to send underprivileged kids to Passages Adventure Camp, and the programming of the James River Park System's Education Department. Friends of the James River Park is the largest nonprofit support group for the area's beloved James River Park System. Our mission is to protect, expand, and enhance the James River Park. The 18th Annual Park to Park Half Marathon will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026.  The point-to-point course takes its' runners from the town of Stuarts Draft, on a scenic trek; down country roads, past farmland and streams, and into the quaint city of Waynesboro, Virginia where the course ends in Ridgeview Park, along the South River. New Directions Center reduces the impact of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking through survivor-centered advocacy, support services, community education, and awareness. For Sexual Assault Awareness Month, New Directions is hosting its back-again Fearless 5K on Saturday, April 25th, 2026. This 5k walk/run aims to raise funds for the Elizabeth “Betty” Walton endowment so that more students can benefit from her memorial scholarship annually. Elizabeth “Betty” Walton had a profoundly inspirational and impactful career as an Intelligence Analyst. Her work ethic, intellect, persona, and dedication to protecting the nation were unparalleled. It is with great sadness that Betty lost her battle with cancer in 2018. In her memory, JMU Intelligence Analysis (IA) professor and husband of Betty, Dr. Tim Walton, established an annual scholarship. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to a highly motivated IA student from an underrepresented population within the IA program, following in Betty’s footsteps. Get some miles in at this family-friendly run/walk! Timed events: 5K, 10K or 1 mile options that will take you through Historic Downtown Cape Charles, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Start times will be STAGGERED for the 1 Mile (9:00 AM), 10K (9:15 AM) and 5K (9:30 AM). All events require registration and include a t-shirt, timed event,  post-run-party with music, kids' activities, snacks, and a finisher medal (4th in a series of 4). Participants can opt to participate in the color zone and be sprayed with bright, fun, harmless, and environmentally safe colors. This color zone will be available for all events: 10k, 5k, and 1 mile. 32nd Annual Run the Tunnel is a 3.8ish Mile Road/Trail footrace hosted by the State of Franklin Track Club and the Scott County Chamber of Commerce, held at the beautiful Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, VA Run the Tunnel is part of the State of Franklin Track Club's King & Queen and Trail Series competitions. Awards will be given to the male and female winners in the following categories:  Overall, Masters, Grandmasters, and Senior Grandmasters.  Awards will also be given (three deep) for both male and female in the following age groups:  19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & Above. Dolly's Imagination Library in Powhatan is pleased to announce its inaugural 5K color run. This family friendly fun run will start and end at Powhatan High School, and feature celebratory color powdering stations along the way. Registrations and donations will all go toward supporting early literacy through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which sends an age-appropriate book, once a month, to each child in Powhatan, up to their fifth birthday.

The United Way 5K on the Runway, is perfect for participants ages 8 and older, who are able to complete 5K in 60 minutes or less. The course is flat and fast. The course follows the taxiway parallel to the main runway.  Come out, join the fun, support United Way of Central Virginia, and see Lynchburg Regional Airport in a whole new way! There is a 600-person and 60 minute time limit for the event. The United Way 5K on the Runway is scheduled to take flight on Saturday April 25, 2026. What is a Tunnel To Towers Run & Walk? The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty!
