2026 Running Ragnar for the Kids

Richmond, VA
On April 24th and 25th, two brave teams of 8 people will take on Ragnar Trail Richmond at Pocahontas State Park. The teams will complete 122.4 miles in a relay-style race. These 16 individuals will push themselves physically and mentally to complete this challenge. These awesome runners are also raising money for a worthy cause - Kids On The Move, a program of Sports Backers. Kids On The Move supports youth running and fitness clubs in the Richmond, Virginia region, giving school aged kids an opportunity to train for and participate in a local race over the course of a fall and spring season. Kids On The Move provides resources for their coaches to foster a safe and fun environment to build up their young runners' physical endurance in order to be ready for race day. This program also helps youth overcome barriers to participation by offering complimentary race entries, covering the cost of transportation to and from the events, providing team t-shirts free of cost, and even outfit

The Osprey Race is an event suitable for participants of all ages and activity levels, offering a well-marked, professionally timed race in one of Virginia’s most scenic state parks. The event is sponsored by Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Inc., a volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the use, enjoyment, and appreciation of the park. The Goodyear Education 5K returns for its 19th year — and this time, we’re taking off from an exciting new location: the Danville Regional Airport! Participants will kick off the race on the terminal ramp alongside the airplane hangars, enjoying a unique runway-side experience with stunning views of the airport and Averett University aircraft on display. The Cause - This 5k('ish) fun run is held to honor the memory of Christian Wood, a talented young kayaker who lost his life while paddling on the James River in 2018. The proceeds from this race will be used to fund the work of Friends of the James River Park System (jamesriverpark.org), the Christian Wood Scholarship Fund to send underprivileged kids to Passages Adventure Camp, and the programming of the James River Park System's Education Department. Elizabeth "Betty" Walton 5K

This 5k walk/run aims to raise funds for the Elizabeth “Betty” Walton endowment so that more students can benefit from her memorial scholarship annually. Elizabeth “Betty” Walton had a profoundly inspirational and impactful career as an Intelligence Analyst. Her work ethic, intellect, persona, and dedication to protecting the nation were unparalleled. It is with great sadness that Betty lost her battle with cancer in 2018. In her memory, JMU Intelligence Analysis (IA) professor and husband of Betty, Dr. Tim Walton, established an annual scholarship. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to a highly motivated IA student from an underrepresented population within the IA program, following in Betty’s footsteps. 6th Annual Fist Bump 5K

Cape Charles LOVE Run

Get some miles in at this family-friendly run/walk! Timed events: 5K, 10K or 1 mile options that will take you through Historic Downtown Cape Charles, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Start times will be STAGGERED for the 1 Mile (9:00 AM), 10K (9:15 AM) and 5K (9:30 AM). All events require registration and include a t-shirt, timed event,  post-run-party with music, kids' activities, snacks, and a finisher medal (4th in a series of 4). Participants can opt to participate in the color zone and be sprayed with bright, fun, harmless, and environmentally safe colors. 32nd Annual Run the Tunnel is a 3.8ish Mile Road/Trail footrace hosted by the State of Franklin Track Club and the Scott County Chamber of Commerce, held at the beautiful Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, VA Run the Tunnel is part of the State of Franklin Track Club's King & Queen and Trail Series competitions. Awards will be given to the male and female winners in the following categories:  Overall, Masters, Grandmasters, and Senior Grandmasters.  Awards will also be given (three deep) for both male and female in the following age groups:  19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & Above.
