Join us for the Halloween in Emmaus 5K Race which benefits the Emmaus Parks system and the Emmaus Halloween Parade. Runners are encouraged to run in a Costume. The race starts at 6:30PM. (The annual Halloween Parade starts at 7:00PM.) Prizes will be awarded for the fastest times but also the best costumes. The Shades of Death 10 Miler is a challenging 10 mile loop backroad run/hike located in Avella, PA. It will start and finish at the Polar Star Club. The run/walk will take you on multiple back roads with scenic views of farms and forests including Shades of Death Road. Over 1200' of Ascent and 1200' of Descent. There will be a 4-hour cutoff to finish. 3 official Aid stations will be located near mile 3, 6, and 8. You are invited to stick around after the race for a meal (included for racers), drinks, and live music!! Benefits Trevorton Heritage Society in memory and honor of former Trevorton athletes. It will kick off the Fall Festival and it’s the 3rd race of the Anthracite Race series. The course is flat with a slight incline. Registration opens at 7am and the 5k race starts at 8:30am.

Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish. The 10k course is slightly more difficult than the 5k and uses some different parts of the park. Special prizes will be awarded to those who complete the Preston Park 15k challenge and run both the 5k and 10k courses such as a finisher medal, a hoagie and a hat. You did both races you deserve it !! If you have not participated in the past, this 5K/10K is the perfect opportunity to experience Preston Park. And a 2010 study found that even just five minutes of exercise in a green space can improve modd and self-esteem. This race is a fundraiser to keep the Laurel Mill Ski trails open and add more trails. For safety reasons no dogs permitted on the course. The route is the same as last year. It is a little shorter with the re-route up the hill. Join us for a spooky fun time on the Laurel Mill Ski trail in beautiful Ridgway PA and run a 6K or 12K trail race or take on the 2 mile spooky walk.This chip timed race is a great course for beginners and new to trail racing runners yet will challenge experienced trail runners that want to push the pace. The course is a 6K loop with approximately 425 feet of elevation gained with the 12K running 2 loops. This rolling forest trail offers a surface covered in grass, ferns, rocks,dirt, and mud. Nothing too technical. Registration will include a tech race shirt, (must be registered by 10/10 to guarantee a shirt) finisher award for all finishers, a door prize drawing and food after the race. You must be present to win door prizes. Awards for 1st overall male and female for each distance. The walk is non competitive. All registered kids 12 and under will receive a free treat bag. Welcome to To Love a Canine's 12th Annual Miles for Mutts 5k Race & 1 Mile Fun Walk! Our Annual 5k Run & 1 Mile Walk fundraiser is back! This event has been one of our biggest & most fun fundraisers. The proceeds from Miles for Mutts benefit TLC Rescue’s life-saving mission to give dogs in need a better tomorrow. Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Brief Overview: This walk brings together the Pittsburgh community to promote racial health equity. We walk together to support equity in health care access and outcomes and to bring attention to the important role that neighbors must play in the strengthening of our community. Proceeds benefit Ubuntu Pittsburgh, a medical doula service supporting those in cancer treatment through evidence based practices that promote improved health outcomes for Black women in Pittsburgh and the African American Support Group, currently hosted by Cheryl Harris. Details: In Western Pennsylvania, Black women are much more likely to die from breast cancer than their white counterparts. The mortality rates for Black women is 36.3/100,000 whereas it is 20.8/100,000 for White women. Researchers, like Margaret Rosenzweig, Ph.D., have determined that the racial disparities are most impactful after diagnosis and during the treatment period. Over her career, she has studied this issue and her findings, which are cornerstones of the evidence base for racial disparities in breast cancer outcomes in Allegheny County, led to the creation of Ubuntu Pittsburgh to provide evidence-based support to address this devastating statistic. Ubuntu, an African concept, is the sense that the community must surround and support the patient and family with advanced illness. The “Ubuntu – Pittsburgh” Program (UPP) is a program of support specifically for Black female patients with advanced cancer. Utilizing Folkman’s Theoretical Model for Stress and Coping, the goals of UPP are to: 1) provide a community-based, trained companion to journey alongside the Black female patient and family living with advanced cancer to assist with stress and coping of advanced illness; to 2) provide and facilitate practical support, 3) to build legacy, and 4) to provide connection and support for the family/friends. The funds support training resources for the companions (called doulas in the Ubuntu model). Cheryl Harris, provides a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who has been impacted by cancer through her group facilitation. Cheryl facilitates the “African American Cancer Support Group” currently located at Cancer Bridges. The funds will support the group, all current cancer patients or those who are in remission, to obtain guest speakers, to address barriers to attendance, and other necessary materials supporting women in cancer treatment with the many financial hardships presented by living with a debilitating medical issue. These funds are budgeted with CHEC to provide access to supports that are not typically covered by insurance or other benefits typically available to women in cancer treatment. Benefits of Sponsorship There isn’t any labor fee/overhead cost for this event; the only costs are for materials at the event. 100% of proceeds go to Ubuntu Pittsburgh and Cheryl Harris for the African American Cancer Support Group. The September 11th National Memorial Trail traverses over 900 miles across the state of Pennsylvania. Join the Alliance for the 3rd Annual Gettysburg Loop Tour, a six-day, 200+ mile journey through south-central Pennsylvania, with a two-day stop in the historic town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, via the 9/11 National Memorial Trail.   A significant highlight of the tour includes a stay in Gettysburg on Saturday and Sunday, October 24th and 25th (Days 3 & 4), where participants will have a variety of routes and rides to choose from, showcasing the Gettysburg Battlefield and other local attractions.   Beginning in Harrisburg, PA, on October 21, the cycling tour will move southwest following the 9/11 Trail alignment's loop to Gettysburg before ultimately ending back in Harrisburg on October 27. The September 11th National Memorial Trail traverses over 900 miles across the state of Pennsylvania. Join the Alliance for the 3rd Annual Gettysburg Loop Tour, a six-day, 200+ mile journey through south-central Pennsylvania, with a two-day stop in the historic town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, via the 9/11 National Memorial Trail.   A significant highlight of the tour includes a stay in Gettysburg on Saturday and Sunday, October 24th and 25th (Days 3 & 4), where participants will have a variety of routes and rides to choose from, showcasing the Gettysburg Battlefield and other local attractions.   Beginning in Harrisburg, PA, on October 21, the cycling tour will move southwest following the 9/11 Trail alignment's loop to Gettysburg before ultimately ending back in Harrisburg on October 27. Register now for the fourth annual Run for Your Life 5K presented by the Run With Heart Foundation! This beautiful course, which is a quick out and back, starts at the Kittanning YMCA onto the scenic Armstrong Trails. If you enjoy a fast, flat course for racing or just want a leisurely walk for 3.1 miles, this race is for you! Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome to participate. Pets and strollers are also encouraged! Register by 9/25/2026 (date subject to change) and you will receive a long-sleeved tech shirt! All shirts not claimed by the start of the race, become property of the race. Awards will follow after the last participant crosses the finish line. Event is timed by Miles of Smiles. The proceeds from this race will go towards paying for bystander CPR training. Greg Woodman and Vicki Williams are both alive and well thanks to bystander CPR. The morning includes a performance by the North Allegheny Marching Band, music, arts and crafts activities, and of course candy! The Swissvale Mile is a community family-friendly fitness event. Choose from a one mile timed race or a dog-friendly, family fun walk. The Swissvale Mile is a 100% volunteer organized event funded by registrations, sponsorships, and donations. In addition to supporting our community, this event is a fun way to be active and to get to know the neighbors and neighborhood. ​Your involvement makes a direct positive impact on our community! Since the Mile was founded in 2014, proceeds from the Mile have been used to support many worthwhile causes including the Woodland Hills Chromebook Fund (helped provide Chromebooks to students forced to go virtual in 2020), The Swissvale Orioles Baseball and Softball Association, the Swissvale Community Enrichment Fund, our Swissvale K-9 Officers and the annual Swissvale Juneteenth Celebration! For the 4th year, are partnering with Swissvale Rotary to multiply our local impact and support their work in the community! The Rotary provides annual funding to Carnegie Free Library of Swissvale, the Swissvale Senior Center and Community Days and has donated to the Woodland Hills Foundation Backpacks of Hope, both the Swissvale and Union Baptist Church food pantries, the WH Girls’ Basketball team and the Swissvale/Braddock Football organization. Last year we were able to contribute $3,000.00 to Swissvale Rotary from our proceeds! Thank you for being involved!
