UCan 5K & Kids Fun Run – A Community Tradition Continues Join us on Saturday, August 29th as we proudly host the second year of the revived UCan 5K, a cherished community tradition held in loving memory of Candace Woolston. This meaningful event celebrates community spirit, wellness, and the enduring legacy of a beloved community member. Participants will enjoy a scenic 5K course showcasing the natural beauty of Raymond, including picturesque views of Sebago Lake. The race will begin and end at Sheri Gagnon Memorial Park, traveling along familiar local roads that make this event both memorable and enjoyable for runners and walkers of all abilities. In addition to the 5K, we are excited to offer a Kids Fun Run prior to the main event—providing our youngest community members an opportunity to participate and promote healthy, active lifestyles. Last Man Standing Ultramarathon is a backyard ultra race held on the pristine, wooded trails of Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. The course is a 4.2 mile loop with double track and some moderate elevation gain. The LMS course is as inviting as it is challenging. Those who are new to trail running and the backyard ultra format may find themselves completing new personal best distances. It’s time to get ready for the 7th annual Autumn & Ales, which will be held on September 12th, 2026.  We will be doing the same great path this year and you can choose between the 5k, 10k or ½ Marathon - all leading back to some great ales to celebrate! In 1913, John Rockefeller Jr. built a series of carriage roads so he could avoid cars in the Acadia National Park. Nine miles of the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Half Marathon run on that still-existing system of hard-packed trails. The hilly course starts in the small, picturesque fishing town of Bar Harbor, then cuts into the National Park. Dense forest engulfs runners as they cross several old granite bridges before looping back to town. The Farm To Farm Ultra Run is held on a looped course in Freeport, Maine on the Wolfe's Neck Center & Freeport Conservation Trust trails, but also includes four virtual options: 5 miles, 10 miles, 30 miles, and 50 miles. This event is part of the Maine Track Club Grand Prix Series, and participants are allowed to earn points for one virtual event in addition to or instead of the in-person race. Join us Saturday, September 19th for the Mt A Trail Challenge! We're excited to have you join us at the summit of Mount Agamenticus for the 10th Annual Mt. A Trail Challenge! The 5K begins at 9 AM and the 1 Mile starts at 9:20 AM. Run, hike, roll or stroll through either our 1 Mile or 5K course. This challenge is timed the good ol’ fashioned way with stop watches, thanks to our local York Highschool Cross Country Team. The Maine Community Bank Maine Marathon features an out-and-back course for all three races -- marathon, relay and half marathon -- with rolling hills and views of the Portland skyline, the Back Cove, Casco Bay, and peak fall foliage. Our Commit to Community, Supporting Victims of Violence and Abuse takes place in September and includes the Kids Obstacle Course, 5K Walk, 5K Run, and 10K Run. All money raised through this event funds the St. Joseph Hospital's Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program. Every participant, every donor, and every sponsor will be helping people in eastern Maine who require help from the hospital's SAFE nurses.

The 26th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship® returns to Sunday River on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as part of our Fall Fest weekend. It’s weird, wild, and wildly entertaining—this one-of-a-kind event draws competitors and spectators from across the globe to see who has what it takes to carry their partner to victory. Teams race on foot through a 278-yard obstacle course that includes log hurdles, a sand trap, and the fan-favorite “Widow Maker” water hazard. The fastest two teams from the qualifying rounds will advance to a final heat to compete for the championship title—and some pretty quirky prizes, including the wife’s weight in beer and five times her weight in cash. Not Married? No Problem.Couples don’t have to be legally married, but teams must consist of one man and one woman, and both must be at least 21 years old on race day, to qualify for the world championship.

On October 11 St. Mary’s and Bates College are teaming up for a 5K Run/Walk and Kids Obstacle Course. The event is aptly named Steps for Hope. Our collective goal is to raise funds to expand the spaces available for behavioral health hospitalization and bring awareness to the mental health crises affecting our youth and adults from our community and every corner of Maine.

The Wells Chamber of Commerce is hosting our 13th Annual Wells Veterans Day 5k.  Proceeds will once again benefit Honor Flight Maine.  Run (or walk) your own 5k (3.1 miles) on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The cost to enter is $20 (adults 18+), $15 (students 11-17) and kids (10 and under) are free (RunSignUp fees are extra).  As in past years, the first 100 paying registrants will receive a men's long-sleeve t-shirt. The details on the original race route are posted below (under directions).  The start and finish is the Trailblazer's Family Club located at 102 Bills Lane in Wells.  The 5K loop takes you through beautiful, remote back roads of Wells.  The course is considered flat, which is great for those either looking to set a new PR and/or for first-time 5K'ers.

The Turkey Trot should be a family tradition, and we want to see those little runners out there having fun and getting active! Whether you run, walk, or trot your way through the course, you’re part of something meaningful—Every dollar raised goes right back into funding our NEXT 5K event.That means better races, more community involvement, and a stronger recreation program for everyone.
