The Waves of Gray – 5K Brain Cancer/Tumor Awareness Walk was created in memory of Fred K. Fenton II. Fred lost his battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma) in November 2016. When he was sick, our family felt extremely helpless as caregivers often do. This walk is our way to unite the Jacksonville brain tumor community, bring awareness to this horrible disease & raise funds for brain cancer/tumor research. Waves of Gray continues to support Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center. 100% of all funds raised will benefit the Waves of Gray Neuro-Oncology Endowment supporting research programs through Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida. US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. Registration is open for the 18th Annual race across the islands of the Florida Keys--May 16-17, 2026.  This chain of unique and inter-connected islands--some inhabited, some not--end in the City of Key West, just 90 miles from Cuba. This is a pavement race, with approximately 75% run on paved bike paths or sidewalks and the balance on the road shoulder facing traffic.  The Florida Keys, known locally as "The Conch Republic", is a spectacular and laid-back sub-tropical paradise, surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Florida Bay/Gulf of Mexico. To honor America's amazing Paramedics and EMTs, Relevant Running brings you another of our signature "live virtual" races! Join us on Saturday May 22nd, 2027 for the next race in our 1st Responder Series, the Paramedic/EMT "LIVE VIRTUAL" 5K/10K. This is no ordinary virtual race. It's a unique virtual running/walking event, with tens of thousands of runners and walkers who have already experienced and love our unique live virtual race format.  Among other things, there is a scheduled race date and start time (Saturday May 22nd, 2027 at 8am Eastern time USA), a virtual check in and start via text or Facebook live-stream on race day morning, timekeeping (runners will text screenshots or pictures of their chosen method of time and distance keeping), a private and active Facebook group dedicated to our runners and walkers.
