Running along the fringe of the mysterious Area 51, this stretch of highway (375) has an overwhelming number of reported UFO sightings. So much so, that in 1996 the federal government officially named highway 375 the "Extraterrestrial Highway". The ET Highway has become a gathering place for UFO enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. With elevations ranging from roughly 4000-5600 feet, the high desert will enchant you with gorgeous vegetation, surrounding mountains, and stunning vistas. An additional treat is the cooler temperatures. Rachel, NV is generally 15 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley; coupled with a night time run, temperatures should be perfect for running in August! * The Extraterrestrial Full Moon Marathon, 1/2, 10K, 5K & 51K are run on the weekend closest to the full moon. Runners will witness as the day falls into night, gorgeous twilight desert glow, a glorious moon rise, shooting stars, and the calm of the vast desert darkness.

Join us for the 55th running of the Journal Jog 8K — "Reno’s Oldest Footrace". Since 1969, this iconic event has been a proud tradition of the Northern Nevada running community, bringing generations of runners together in the heart of Old Southwest Reno. The flat, fast 8K course winds through scenic, historic neighborhoods before routing into and finishing directly on the Reno High School track — a rare and unforgettable experience you won’t find at any other race. Families are part of the tradition! The Stroller-Run division gives parents the chance to truly race with their child and compete for a top-three finish, while all other stroller walkers will join the runners and walkers in the main Run/Walk/Stroller-Walk division. Over the years, one of my favorite times at our Running with the Devil extreme heat race in late June is when the sun sets, and the night air just beckons you to be outside and run! Devil After Dark brings you that magic with a late summer evening run. Commencing just before sunset, run through Lovell Canyon while enjoying the stunning sunset as day falls into night. Sun is replaced by stars and moonlight lights the way. The omnipresence of the surrounding canyon under the moonlit starry night is magical! Pinion Juniper trees dance in the shadows and the neon lights of Las Vegas are just minutes away. An enchanted late summer evening run. *This event is held on the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, under a special use permit.

Enjoy the stunning views of Red Rock Canyon while helping us preserve and protect your beautiful public lands!   Tortoise Trot 5K Walk/Run A 5k-ish trail run/walk starting and finishing at the Visitor Center, the scenic Tortoise Trot course gives you a 360 degree view of one of Southern Nevada’s most spectacular vistas. Part road, part trail, this event encompasses the Moenkopi loop and will be scenic and fun for the whole family. Participants 5 to11 years old must be accompanied by an adult for safety.  No on-course jogging strollers or dogs are permitted. Join us for the 9th Carson Valley Turkey Trot. This fun run takes place in the beautiful Carson Valley, starting at Minden Park in downtown Minden. Trot through this picturesque downtown neighborhood as a fun way to start the Thanksgiving holiday. In addition to the in-person fun run on Thanksgiving morning, children 12 and under can participate in the Turkey Dash or skip the in-person events altogether- and opt for the virtual race to run on your own schedule.   If race is full, same day registration will be available.  T-shirt and swag bag as available.

Enjoy a trail run in the beautiful Rattlesnake Mountain and Huffaker hills. This course is all trail. Long sleeve performance shirt is included in race registration fee. The 5k race will begin at 9am on Saturday December 26th, 2026. 5k and virtual 5k available Youth and adult athletes are welcome, ages 5 and up.  This is a recognized and sanctioned race by USA track and field. EMT services will be provided by REMSA. This race will be officially timed and results will be posted online after the race. Parking   Parking is limited at Huffaker Hills Trailhead, once the parking lot and side of the road parking is full, volunteers will direct participants to park at the Longley Town center parking lot at the bottom of the mountain where a shuttle will be available. We encourage participants and fans to ride in the same vehicle and arrive early to the race.
