The Traverse City Track Club presents Loop The Lake, a 4-mile, 8-mile, and 2-person relay trail race around Boardman Lake, just south of downtown Traverse City. The Marshall Run is held in memory of Tpr. Kevin M. Marshall who died in the line of duty of July 7, 2003.  This is a 5K Run/Walk, and all proceeds benefit the Michigan Special Olympics via the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR).  All registrants receive a t-shirt.  The top overall male and female, male and female masters, male and female public safety, and top three male and female in each age group will receive awards. The course is out and back and has one "noticeable" hill in it.

Set in beautiful Northeast Michigan, the Aliferis Memorial Race is open to runners, walkers and bikers of all ages and ability levels. It is named in memory of long-time Alpena Pathologist Dr. Peter Aliferis. Dr. Aliferis earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan and joined the hospital in 1963, serving for many years as the pathologies and laboratory director. He touched the lives of many in our community during his 37-year tenure. This race is a celebration of his steadfast dedication to health and wellness. All proceeds will benefit the Peter Aliferis Scholarship Fund, the Cancer Center and patient enhancement projects and new technology at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Known as the Mighty Mac, the Mackinac Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere and the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. Imagine for a moment - the sounds of seagulls flying above, ferry boat horns and waves crashing on the shoreline below, views of Mackinac Island and vast Great Lakes Vistas alongside you, the sun rising and washing the sky with glorious shades of orange...this is the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Run, and it is the only running event on the Mackinac Bridge.This non-competitive run is organized by Michigan Fitness Foundation and the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports with support from the Mackinac Bridge Authority and Michigan Department of Transportation. Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation's 15th Annual Glow Run Saturday, September 12, 2026 @ UWM Field Glow in the dark with us as we raise funds to help empower young adults to restart their lives after cancer diagnosis through adventure-based activities. This is an outdoor run/walk starting at UWM Field in Utica, traveling primarily through River Bends Park before looping back to finish back at UWM Field. Virtual Event With a virtual race you can run the 5K distance anywhere, in your neighborhood, on a treadmill, at a nearby park. You will have between Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, October 3rd to complete your 5K. Once you have the 5K completed you will enter your time in the Run Sign-up website. Livingston County Veteran Services and Howell Recreation present the fourth annual 9/11 “Never Forget 5K Trail Run/Walk.”  Join us at Fillmore County Park on September 12th at 9 am as we remember those who lost their lives that day, as well as our military veterans and first responders who went into harm’s way as a result of the attack. Join us for the third annual Dragon Trails Triathlon! We are excited to invite any adventurous athletes to race this scenic and rugged sprint triathlon course. You will be challenged with a .75K (.46 mile) freshwater swim through Tommy’s Lake, a 20K (12.4 miles) of mixed terrain biking through Bald Mountain, the Polly Ann Trail, and Orion Oaks County Park, and a 5K (3.1 miles) run through the forested trails of Camp Agawam.  This event is truly one of a kind, and our race organizers are excited to host a limited number of athletes through an intimate and organized open water swimming, mountain biking, and trail running experience. While competitive, we've capped registration at 100 participants to limit chaos and congestion and ensure athlete safety.  All registrants will receive a swim cap, event shirt, pre run fuel options and on course nutrition, and drink ticket to use in our "Dragons Lair" after the race.  Maps of the 2025 Dragon Trails Triathlon are included below. 20

The Just One Step Memorial Walk is a new addition to our Wayland Hot Air Balloonfest. This will be a walk to remember those we lost too soon. We walk to let others know they are not alone and that suicide prevention is possible. The funds we raise will go to support those in our community that have experienced a loss or those who may need assistance getting the care they need.  Your registration fee covers your ticket into the Wayland Balloonfest. There will also be a Recognition Rewards Program when certain fundraising goals are met! Details will be coming soon!

Sunday September 13, 2026 Holland Haven Marathon XIII: Running - Community - Celebration The Holland Haven Marathon offers runners a scenic experience along Lake Michigan, starting in Grand Haven and finishing in downtown Holland. This USATF certified marathon takes place in early September, providing mild weather and a final chance to qualify for the Boston Marathon. The Holland Haven Half Marathon starts at Camp Geneva and follows a picturesque route along Lakeshore Drive into Holland, featuring a mostly flat course on paved paths. The 8K Race serves as a perfect introduction to longer distances, with a flat, out-and-back course suitable for both novice and experienced runners. Big Babies 5k run/walk 2026 race date - Sunday, September 13th    The Big Babies 5K run/walk provides financial support for medical expenses for caring for young large animals (foals, crias, calves, kids, etc.) that require treatment at MSU’s Veterinary Medical Center. Medical expenses for newborn animals are generally unanticipated and can be substantial. The Big Babies Fund will be used to cover part of the medical expenses for clients in need. Funds are also used to support the training needs of students and residents who will become veterinarians and specialists who can help "Big Babies"    Dogs are welcome to walk with their owners in this event. Pleasant Michigan! 100% of the proceeds from the event will help those living with HIV/AIDS within the Central Michigan community and support programs that provide solutions for stopping the spread of the virus. The 5k race will take you through our haunted hayride and zombie paintball scenes with live actors.
