A community FUN RUN 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk inspired by Blaine Chandler’s light and love for others at Sundale School in Tulare. “Blaine was the heart of his family — full of light, music, faith, and service. He loved helping others, dreamed big, and lived with joy beyond his years. Blaine lived with joy and purpose beyond his years, teaching everyone around him to love big and keep smiling. Though our hearts ache, we are committed to honoring his legacy by continuing to serve and strengthen our community in his name,” -Blaine’s sister, Addyson. This race is being run for every family navigating grief, hope, and the importance of children’s mental health. Your support will help fund Blaine’s Corral at Sundale Elementary and raise awareness for children’s mental health initiatives in our community. Blaine was passionate about his school’s farm, and we hope to make it a place to shine for years to come.

Join us in celebrating Avenal's 44th Annual Old Timer's Day - Heritage Festival. With free Lucha Libre matches starting at 2pm at Rice Park and a Fun Run. North Coast Striders is pleased to announce that the 41st Annual Boontling Classic 5K footrace will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Anderson Valley Elementary school in Boonville, California. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. Ribbons will be given to the top three placers in each of the ten age divisions, as well as plaques for first man/woman/non-binary. A post-race drawing will be held with prizes generously donated by local Anderson Valley businesses.  All proceeds will go to the Anderson Valley Food Bank in Boonville, CA. It uses the same course as the Avenue of the Giants Marathon and is produced by the same running club.The Avenue of the Giants is one of the most beautiful races in the world!  It runs through old growth redwoods and follows a natural creek in the middle of a state park.  Staged on "The Avenue of the Giants" in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, located in rural Northern California. Course is on a paved road that winds gently up hill but is mostly a flat, fast destination race.  With little to distract you, the tall trees inspire the athlete in each of us to be strong.  The course is certified and the marathon is a Boston Qualifying event.

Kern River Conservancy's Charity 6K/11K Run at historic Kernville and Whiskey Flat trail is a community-driven event dedicated to raising funds to support the Kern River Conservancy's mission of keeping the Kern River clean and protected. Runners and outdoor enthusiasts of all levels come together to enjoy a scenic course through the historic Keysville area while contributing to conservation efforts. Proceeds from the race go directly toward trash cleanups, habitat restoration, and public education programs that promote responsible recreation along the Kern River. This event not only raises awareness about environmental stewardship on the Kern River, but also fosters a strong sense of community involvement in preserving one of California’s most cherished natural resources. Big Sur Land Trust's 2026 Race for Open Space is a one-day trail running event dedicated to fostering an appreciation of natural spaces in Monterey County and celebrating the health benefits of time spent in nature. This annual event invites runners and hikers of all ages to find wonder among Monterey County’s most iconic landscapes. This time of year will provide participants with sweeping views of green ridge lines punctuated by colorful wildflowers. Centered around Palo Corona Regional Park, participants are invited to choose their adventure by registering for a 5K, 12K, 25K, or 35K+ trail run. Each course promises a spectacular journey through sections of the Palo Corona Backcountry, normally closed to the public. The annual Waves & Whales 5K Trail Run‐Walk is held on the Mendocino Coast in Point Arena. Taking full advantage of the location, the run takes place on the Point Arena-Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument. The course begins behind City Hall in the conifer forest off Highway 1, makes its way to the coast where it follows the bluffs, and then winds back into the pine and cypress forest. Proceeds from the Waves & Whales Trail Run support ACORN Partners in Education’s environmental stewardship program, Students Protecting the Coast, which engages youth in hands‐on learning with a focus on conservation and community outreach. Students Protecting the Coast began during the 2012‐13 school year as part of the local and national campaign to include the Point Arena‐Stornetta Lands in the California Coastal National Monument. The race begins at 8 am Cedar Creek at 500 N Westberry in Madera, California. The runners will run north on Westberry and then turn left on Riverview until you come to an entrance to run along the cannel. You will turn around at the marked area and return to Cedar Creek where we will have breakfast and provide the runners with their times. Each runner will be provided with a T-shirt.

We’re gathering in downtown SD to take on the color-hunting photo challenge. Hunt for objects, scenes or moments that match your assigned color. Meet fellow photography lovers. Bring your preferred camera (smart phone works great).

Two-day adult sailing classes are offered most weekends from 9 am to 4 pm at Fiddler's Cove Marina. Classes are open to all eligible MWR patrons and sponsored guests. Minimum age requirement is 16 years or older with a parent or guardian.   **A minimum of 5 hours of sail time is required post beginner sailing course.  Class fees per person vary by military affiliation and rank. Dependent fees are calculated at the sponsoring active duty or retiree rate. Pre-registration is required as classes can fill up quickly. Registration includes boat rental, instruction, and textbooks. Students per boat will be kept to the minimum amount possible in order to maximize learning potential, and will range from one to four. Number of students per boat is dependent on the boat size, sailing conditions and the skills being developed in the class. Move 4 Mind is a free community 5K run/walk hosted by the San Mateo County Youth Commission at Seal Point Park. This event is dedicated to promoting both mental and physical health—and raising awareness of how deeply connected they are. Move 4 Mind brings together youth, families, and community members for an energizing and welcoming experience that goes beyond fitness. Participants will have access to county and community mental and physical health resources, interactive information tables, free snacks and drinks, and live entertainment. Our goal is to create a space that is uplifting, supportive, and informative—where people can move their bodies, connect with others, and learn about the resources available to support their well-being. While the event is youth-focused, all community members are welcome to attend.

NEW LOCATION • NEW DATE  Read below to make sure you understand the changes The Silicon Valley Kids Triathlon (“SVKT”) is one of the country’s largest triathlons specifically for kids aged SIX through SEVENTEEN. This year, we are moving to a new venue, the beautiful and recently opened Kathleen MacDonald High School. The swim will be in the pool and the run on the track as usual. The bike course will continue to be on closed roads. There should be plenty of parking, the bike course has easy spectator viewing, and the whole event will be more compact. Because we are in a new venue with a smaller pool, we are cutting out some of the events that have been traditionally held in order to make the event smaller as we gain more experience with this venue. Triathlon There are two triathlon events to choose from.  Competitive Triathlon is for kids aged 6 to 15 who are ready to race on their own. It is timed and there will be awards. The Greater Madera Kiwanis Club presents the 22nd annual Mother’s Day Run on  Sunday May 12th at Woodward Park, Fresno Ca. We added a 5k run to our traditional 10k run and 2 mile run/walk along with the kids dash which is less than a 1/4 mile. Adult registration will earn you a coveted Mother’s Day run shirt. Youth pricing does not include a shirt, but can be added for an additional $5.  Complete an event to earn a finishers medal. Place in the top three of your age group, get an age group award.
