Weekend Group Runs We are expanding our group run offerings.  We will always hold a "Meet the Road Runners" run at Rockland Lake on the Third Sunday of every month.  That run is particularly good for beginning runners or those new to the club looking for running buddies as there will always be someone there from Club Leadership and we'll make sure no one runs alone, whatever your pace. We will add additional group runs whenever we have a club volunteer to lead one. Typically, those will also be at Rockland Lake at the same time and place, but we may vary that in the future. Make sure you are registered so you get the e-mail notifications which will be sent out on Friday morning so you can plan your weekend. The Hook is a long-standing community half-marathon known for its challenging hill climb in the last few miles. This year’s Half will again start and finish at the Rockland Lakes North Parking Lot (Field #1) by the Pavilion. This year for the first time in the Hook Half history we will have pacers!We are also incorporating a 10K race, as there are not many local 10K races. Like the Half, it will start and finish at the North parking lot. Unlike the half, this will be a fairly flat course with two loops around Rockland Lake. This race benefits Meals on Wheels a local organization that been improving the quality of life for aging Rockland County residents for over four decades. Lace up for Rockland's libraries! Join us for the 2nd Annual LARC in the Park 5K Run/Walk at Rockland Lake State Park on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Proceeds benefit the Library Association of Rockland County (LARC) Scholarship Fund and professional development for members. LARC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting and promoting Rockland’s public libraries. Join RRCA Certified Running Coach Gail Cirlin-Lazerus, to train for the popular Rockland Road Runners Turkey Trot! Whether you are a beginner or would like to achieve a personal best, join this group to train for this amazing race. This program is open to everyone. There is no fee for Rockland Road Runners members. Not a member, no problem! Join RRR and have access to many other training programs for RRR races as well as discounts on RRR races. You will be prompted to become a RRR member when you register for this program. Children are not permitted to attend this weekly event (unless they are a registered participant). Coach Gail will be distributing weekly training plans as well as providing opportunities for your long runs, and tips and encouragement along the way. The Rockland Road Runners To Infinity & Beyond Halloween 5K will be a fun event for kids and adults. The money raised will go to the Jordyn Seiden Memorial Fund which will benefit kids who struggle with mental illness and intellectual developmental issues. Race day fun begins at 8:30 AM and includes a Kids Fun Run (separate from 5K), face painting, a pumpkin patch, apple cider, and more.⁣ ⁣We encourage you to arrive early so you, your kids, family, and friends can ALL enjoy all the Halloween-themed activities. Plan to be there by 8:30 AM so you don’t miss the Monster Mash warm-up and the East Ramapo Marching Band kicking off the event at 8:45 AM with a march-in to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Registration for the 5k for kids 0 to 9 is free, and for children 10 to 18 will be discounted to $30.

Join us on November 1st for NAMI Rockland’s 5K annual Run / Walk for Wellness to raise money for local programs and services that promote mental health awareness and end the stigma. Runners and Walkers will participate in the 5K starting at 10 AM. This race will be held rain or shine. There is a $30 registration fee for both runners and walkers. Race Day registration is $35. Sponsorship packages are available for corporations, large groups or individuals. Donors are also encouraged to underwrite the attendance of those in need.

At the time, we were just coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic where opportunities to run fast times were limited and motivation to continue training was difficult with no races on the calendar. In 2023, we took the same concept and applied it at an elite level, hosting a race for athletes targeting the USATF Olympic Trials Qualifying Standard (OTQ) or the Olympic Standard. Many “on the cusp” athletes find they have limited options for races that are both fast and will provide the support they need to run their best.Athletes from all over the world came to participate in a small localized race with the potential for massive impact. When the day was done: 48 athletes ran under the 2:18:00/2:37:00 OTQ StandardMore OTQs came from our race than any other race in 2023Our race produced 2 Olympians69% of the fin

Sassquad Trail Running and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference are proud to present Squatch the Hook: 5K/10K! This trail party starts and finishes at Parking Field #4 inside Rockland Lake State Park, giving runners two completely different adventures in one beautiful corner of the Hudson Valley... The 5K is a smooth and scenic paved loop around Rockland Lake. The paved path circles the water with wide-open views and gentle terrain, making it perfect for runners, walkers, and families. This course is fully accessible and includes a wheelchair division, welcoming athletes of all abilities to be part of the trail party. The 10K is where things get a little more Squatchy: this trail run/hike heads up the rocky and rugged Long Path, climbing through forest and stone ledges to the spectacular summit of Hook Mountain. At the top, runners are rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views of the Hudson River and the surrounding Hudson Valley before turning around and descending back to the lake.
