REGISTER HERE Fostering the Family is hosting our 7th Annual Fight for Families 5k Trail Run/Walk on November 7, 2026 in a BRAND NEW LOCATION: WESTMINSTER PARK ROCK HILL, SC This event is meant to bring awareness to the local foster and adoption crisis. While this race is a true 5k, it will also have some elements that offer an interactive insight into the life of a child traveling through the child welfare system. Join us as we experience the reality of foster care and come together as a community to bring about change! There will be interactive stations leading up to the start line that you will be able to visit from 8-9 am, as well as two water stations during the race. Our 5k race for all ages will begin at 9 am and be timed by both male and female divisions per age category. Following the race, there will be an awards ceremony at 10:15 am with prizes for the race winners in each age category. Each runner will receive their time via text from Queen City Timing. If your business, church, or nonprofit is interested in sponsorship or vendor tables we encourage all participation by the community. We are better together!

Race Description Both the 5K and the 1 Mile Fun Run will be held on Northwestern High School’s Cross Country Course. The course is run primarily on grass and covers parts of the ATC, Northwestern, and Rawlinson Road Middle School. The Monticello Teachers’ Association is proud to present the 12th Annual Tinsel Trot 5k Fun Run! Remember to dress as your favorite holiday character! Your support will provide scholarships for Monticello students as well as benefit local charity! For the past 11 years, the Tinsel Trot has raised money to support local charities and deserving Monticello High School students in their academic endeavors. Please help us continue this festive occasion! The race begins at the stop sign between Dutch's Tavern and the Rock Hill Trading Post. Participants make a left onto Lake Louise Marie Road and then a right onto North Emerald. The race continues on North Emerald until reaching a turnaround just before Old Sackett Road. Runners then continue back to the start of the race and finish at the end of Lake Louise Marie Road.

Detective Michael “Mike” Doty, who served the York County community for 12 years, was one of four deputies shot searching for a domestic violence suspect in York on January 16, 2018. A day later he passed away. He was an investigator with the York County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit and was the Law Enforcement Officer Narcan (LEON) Program coordinator for the sheriff’s office. He was also a member of the YCSO SWAT Entry Team, as well as an associate advisor for the York County Explorer Post 1786. Your participation in this race will directly benefit Keystone Substance Abuse Services. Keystone was established in 1969 as a private, not-for-profit organization that serves as the Act 301 (1973) substance abuse authority in York County, South Carolina. Keystone offers nationally accredited and licensed services including education, prevention, and treatment (both outpatient and inpatient) -- to meet the needs of individuals, families, and groups in York County and surrounding
