This year our Hillbilly Family has a special announcement..they are expecting a bouncing baby boy (medal) due on April 19th, 2026!  Ya'll can get your very own limited edition Hillbilly boy medal by running the a 5K, 10K, or the HALF MARATHON!  This will be the 3rd half marathon for the HBDRun and we are so excited!  So, pick your distance and join us in beautiful downtown Pikeville at the Pikeville City Park, while you enjoy Kentucky's 2nd largest festival, Hillbilly Days. The first half of the half (the 10K portion) will all be on pavement/sidewalks and in the downtown area of Pikeville.  Those who elect to do the half marathon will get to enjoy some "off-roading" and become a true "Hillbilly", because part of this route will take you through one of our beautiful trails.  There will be challenging inclines, but there is no "hiking" type of terrain.  The entire hill route is a wide path and is either paved, or gravel. The Annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk for Judi's Place for Kids is back!!!   Prizes/ Opportunities: One With Courage Awards: Be sure to nominate individuals or groups in the community that have shown courage supporting children over the past year! There are three One With Courage Awards for those that bring "Hope", "Help" and "Healing" to children. You can email kim.lee@ky.gov to make nominations!Costume contests: The Run with Courage is still superhero themed! Everyone who helps a child is a superhero, and the children who are survivors of abuse are also heroes!  Watch social media for details on how to submit your entries for individual, team, and pet categories. Get ready to enjoy Pikeville in a unique way! This sprint distance triathlon will have you swimming at our local YMCA pool, followed by a scenic bike ride through Historical Downtown Pikeville, and finish off by running through the Epic  Blue Chip Trail! This year we are adding team relays and aquathlon divisions (swim/run). We encourage both beginners and seasoned triathletes to give this a try! Join the Pikeville Police Department, Pikeville Fire Department, and Pikeville 911/Public Safety for the annual Cuffs & Hoses Block Party & 5K/10K, benefiting Christmas with a First Responder and other community outreach programs that support children and families throughout Pike County. The fun begins at 4:00 PM in downtown Pikeville with food trucks, vendors, family-friendly activities, emergency vehicles, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy an evening with friends and family before the race begins. 9:00 AM. We're doing it again! This year is Bigger and Better! The beloved 5K returns in 2026! This year's event is hosted by Pikeville Medical Center and the Pike County Health Department. This cherished community event is back, and there's a distance for everyone. Choose the 5K Run/Walk or the 1-Mile Walk, whether you're chasing a personal best or strolling alongside family. It is more than a race; it's a celebration of courage. Participants are encouraged to wear the color(s) representing the type of cancer that has touched their lives, uniting our whole community in the fight against cancer. At the start/finish line, you'll find a variety of activities to learn more about cancer resources, honor survivors and remember those who lost their valiant battle. There will be fun games and activities for the whole family, plus fun and fellowship at the finish. This year's race swag is better than ever: every registered 5K and 1-Mile participant receives a t-shirt AND a medal. Yes, the 1-Mile Walk gets a medal this year! And because 100% of proceeds go directly to support cancer awareness and cancer patients at Lawson Cancer Center at Pikeville Medical Center, every step you take helps a neighbor who is battling this disease.
