The Coach Yantis 5K Turkey Trot is held the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving in memoriam of Brad Yantis by contributing to his MNU endowment scholarship, The American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge KC and the Olathe Public Schools grants via a local community partner. Who: All are welcome to join in on the 5K Turkey Trot. Timing chips will be given to all participants. When: Saturday, November 21st, 2026 @ 9 a.m. Where: Cunningham Center at MidAmerica Nazarene University Check-in, race packet, bib, timing chip and t-shirt pick-up will start at 8 a.m. on race day inside the foyer of Cunningham Center on the campus of MNU. An informational email will be sent to participants two weeks prior to the race with all specific updated details. Participants are encouraged to bring 3-5 non-perishable food drive items to collect for the local Salvation Army Outpost food pantry. Please bring items with you the morning of the race and drop them off at the donations table. The Yantis family started a scholarship endowment in 2020 for future athletes at Brad's alma mater; MidAmerica Nazarene University. The scholarship has been given to a current MNU student for the last three years. In 2023, the generosity continued as a percentage of the race funds will go towards the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge KC.

The reason for this race: Miles Jacobsen is 10 years old and currently in 4th grade. His family moved to KC in 2021 when his dad was hired as the Lead Teaching Pastor at Heartland Community Church off Strang Line Rd in Olathe. Miles Jacobsen is one of the many kids in Kansas City battling a brain tumor. Days after his 9th birthday in March 2024, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. After a long year of chemotherapy, Miles is now awaiting the development of more targeted therapy that will help him fight the growth of this tumor. Despite these challenges, Miles is a joyful and active kid whose positive outlook has inspired hundreds, if not thousands, of people since his diagnosis. His heart beats strong for people of all ages who are enduring their own cancer journeys, and he’s always looking to lift other people’s spirits. In January of 2015, the Olathe Police Department’s Officer Michael Kern, radio number 704, passed away from a fatal heart attack while preparing for a Presidential escort.  In his memory the annual 704 Blue Run was born and is a tribute to his service and all Olathe Officers that have been tragically lost.   Unfortunately, 2018 saw the unexpected passing of Olathe Police Department Sgt. David Williams. He too will always be remembered for his service and forever a member of this tribute run. Please join us for a beautiful 7.04 mile run or 5K run/walk to kick off your summer! This event takes place on the Indian Creek paved trails and offers you a unique distance of 7.04 miles as well as a 5K run/walk. This youth triathlon is specifically designed to let the kids be the stars of the show. Athletes aged 14 years and younger will compete in individual age groups in this race that is truly an event for all abilities.  Please note that this a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. The park sits on the western edge of Johnson County, known to its most avid patrons as the "gem" of western Johnson County. The race will happen rain or shine, so ensure you are prepared for any type of weather. Looking for a little adventure? Check out the 2-hour race that is all on foot (TREKKING ONLY) and open to solos and teams. Have a bike and ready to crush the mountain bike trails? Check out the 6-hour race that will have racers trekking, biking, and paddling their way through the park. The team that completes all the checkpoints (or more than other teams) with the fastest time will win the race.  2-hour racers will trek to all of their checkpoints and may encounter a few extra challenges along the way. Join us for a beautiful fall morning and an event to raise money to save precious lives! Lantz Tucker Memorial Fund for pets is a special fund for pets who are in urgent need of medical care. Imagine your beloved pet has an emergency. Like being hit by a car, and he/she urgently needs vet care or he may die. But, you recently lost your job and things are tight and you don’t have $1000+ for a vet bill, no matter how much you love your dog. Or you have a job, and you work hard. You work full time and yet it's barely enough to cover the bills. What if your only choices were to let your pet die or surrender him to a rescue so he may live? We help those pets, and their loving owners, so that the pet doesn’t die and the owners don’t have to surrender it to get it help. Our annual fundraiser, Run for Paws 5K will be October 10, 2026 at Frontier Park in Olathe! 100% of the money raised in our 6h annual Run for Paws 5K will be used to directly pay vets for the urgent and life saving medical care. Since opening in April of 2020, our little fund has donated over $402,000 and helped to keep 1006 pets in their homes, with the families who love them. We ask for nothing in return, and every single penny donated goes directly to vet bills. This run is our only fundraiser, otherwise we operate 100% on donations.
