This race consists of 1 mile walk/run, 5k, and 10k. The races begin at 9am in front of the ambulance building on 3rd street. The pre-registration charge is $30.00 for 13 years old and over and $15.00 for 12 years old and younger. This fee includes a t-shirt while supplies last. There is turkey rice soup afterwards and snacks at the ambulance building. All proceeds support the Newport Fire Company, Newport Ambulance, Newport Library and Newport Senior Citizens. *Pre-registration packs can be picked up on Tuesday November 24, 2026 from 6-7 at the Newport Ambulance Building.

Set at South Beach State Park in Newport, Oregon, this event brings together raw coastal scenery, winter grit, and one unforgettable finish-line tradition: the plunge. Choose your distance: Half Marathon A rugged mix of road and trail. The half marathon starts and finishes on pavement, with a challenging stretch through the Wilder Trail system in the middle. Expect coastal air, rolling terrain, and a course that asks you to earn the finish. The half marathon has a 2:45 cutoff for full course support, but we’ll be cheering you across the finish line either way. 10K & 5K Flat, fast, and welcoming for runners and walkers looking to start the year strong. The 10K and 5K are road out-and-back courses — perfect for chasing a New Year’s PR, building momentum, or simply showing up with your community. The Ultimate Coastal Finish The Newport Resolution Run & Plunge is built around one unforgettable tradition: finishing your race and taking the plunge. Our primary plan is to finish near the Pacific Ocean shoreline, where runners can celebrate by plunging into the ocean after crossing the finish line. If strong winds, surf conditions, or other coastal safety concerns make the ocean finish unfavorable, we will use our alternate finish and plunge location at the South Beach Marina. This keeps the plunge tradition alive while allowing us to make the safest race-day decision for participants, volunteers, and crew. The plunge is optional, but the memory lasts all year. Take part in the Steps to Stability 5K, a community race that brings people together to support hope, healing, and stability in Perry County! This year’s event is presented in partnership with Perry Human Services and Join Hands Ministry. Together, we are working to provide prevention, recovery, and support services that help individuals and families move toward stronger, healthier futures.

Join us in the City-by-the-Sea for this stunning marathon and half marathon. In its 10th running, the Newport Rhode Races partners with the upcoming Annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival to give you a true Spring Newport Experience. Our courses will pass along many of the over 1,200,000 starting to bloom around the City by the Sea. (We'll call it Dash through the Daffodils!) The Marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2027, at Easton's Beach in Newport, RI. The Half Marathon will start at 8:00 a.m. from the same location. The marathon course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon Qualifier. Please respect our native environment - STAY OFF THE DUNES, use trash receptacles, and recycle as much as possible. Please Note: Newport Rhode Races will be happening rain or shine. Because of the logistics of planning for a race of this size, we cannot offer refunds for any reason. Athletes will take on a classic sprint-distance course that showcases some of the most scenic and historic terrain in coastal Rhode Island. The race begins with a 0.33 mile protected swim inside the calm Fort Adams cove beside the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry. From there, athletes head out on an 11.6 mile bike ride along the world-famous Ocean Drive, featuring rolling terrain, nonstop ocean vistas, and classic Newport landmarks. The race wraps up with a 3 mile run through Fort Adams State Park, including stretches inside the historic fort itself and along its beautiful waterfront grounds. Come race, explore, and enjoy a classic Newport morning at one of New England’s most unique sprint triathlons. USAT Sanctioned Event: This race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT). All participants are required to be current USAT members or purchase a one-day USAT membership during registration. All registrants must also complete and sign the USAT waiver prior to competing. No athlete will be permitted to race without a valid USAT membership and signed waiver.
