WHATThe Wingman Foundation Coastal Carolina Memorial 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run WHY The Coastal Carolina Memorial 5K and Kid's Fun Run is an annual event to remember the life and legacy of service members lost in Navy and Marine Corps aviation mishaps. This event is an opportunity for the family members to connect with others who knew their loved ones, support the mission of The Wingman Foundation, or want to learn more about those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This year we will remember the crew of Yanky 72, which included the Marine Corps KC-130 aircrew and Marine Special Operations Sailors and Marines. Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish. Pricing: The registration fee covers the entire five (5) weeks of the Series which includes race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, a finisher medal and any sponsor giveaways. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online Early Bird registration increases three weeks prior to the first race event. Challenger: This Series offers a Challenger Division which is an adaptive 75 yard race for children with disabilities and/or special needs. This allows for parents, siblings, and friends to be on the course with runners to provide support as well as bringing their own supportive devices such as crutches, braces, wheelchairs, etc. to be used by runners. Makeup Date Information: 10/18/2026 Single Day Racing: Single day registration opens 1 hour before each race and must be completed onsite. The fee covers one race only. Single day participants are not eligible for series scoring, overall results, or an event T-shirt. Participants may upgrade to the full series to receive scoring and a T-shirt for races after the upgrade. Upgrade instructions can be found HERE. Awards: All participants receive a medal on Week 5! New Bern's 6th annual beer mile! Drink a 12oz beer, run one-quarter mile, drink a beer & run, drink a beer & run, drink a beer & run. 4 beers in one mile. The world record is now 4 minutes, 28 seconds (males) and 5 minutes, 43 seconds (females). This will be an "unofficial" beer mile, so broken records will not be acknowledged by the world record gurus. Registration will be limited to 100 participants; participants will receive the 2026 challenge coin bottle opener. Please be sure to designate a driver before stepping up to the start line. Does the thought of 4 beers and 4 laps sound intimidating? Find a partner and race as a 2-person relay team. Cost of the individual beer mile is $25 per person. Cost to participate as a 2-person relay team is also $25 per person; you can create a group/team during registration or on race day. Teams are limited to 2 people...let's see who can be creative with their team name. Freshwater Beer Company and Coastal Sole Performance Footwear are partnering together for this fun event. 100% of registration costs and donations will go towards the cost of a New Bern Bear dedicated to Motorcycle Awareness in memory of Allen Birzack.

The Boots and Blooms 5K is a race in honor and memory of ALL of the babies gone too soon. The Boots and Blooms Foundation was created in loving memory of our daughter, Lilly, and our son, Andy, to help other bereaved families who experience the devastating loss of a child.  Our 5K will be held annually on the first Saturday in October to kick off Pregnancy and Infant loss awareness month. This year’s race will be 10/3/2026. We will also have a virtual 5K option open 10/1/26-10/5/26. This is a walk or run event!    Since our daughter Lilly was stillborn on May 14, 2018 we have made it our mission to help other bereaved families. We lost our son Andy on February 17, 2023 and unfortunately have been through this nightmare twice now and know how important it is to be able to make memories with your baby. 2026 Craig Brake Memorial Colors 4 Cancer 5k and 1 mile run/walk is a live or virtual color run which benefits the Journey of Hope Cancer Support Fund in New Bern, NC. Journey of Hope helps patients and families cope with the emotional, physical, and psychological effects of cancer by offering programs such as peer support groups, survivorship program, art therapy, yoga/exercise, and other various programs. We are part of a comprehensive cancer resource center in Eastern North Carolina for people with cancer and their caregivers, to let them know they are not alone and we are here to support them in all aspects of this journey. We are a non for profit organization that supports 100% LOCAL people/families. We are a proud part of the CarolinaEast Foundation. This is a powdered COLOR 5K/1 mile fun run/walk to celebrate the various cancer color campaigns. You can participate in person at our LIVE event on November 7, 2026, or virtually in a 10K or 5K from anywhere at any time from October 31-November 7. You can participate or volunteer for this event. We encourage you to register a team if able to celebrate or honor those who you know have been touched by cancer. We will have new awards coming this year! Stay tuned for more information. Proceeds raised from the Holiday Hustle will expand Craven Smart Start’s ability to provide more services for children, birth to five, and their families in Craven County. The Holiday Hustle will feature the Tinsel 10K and Jingle Bell Jog 5K, which take runners on a course through downtown New Bern starting and ending in Union Point Park. The Neuse Pamlico Sound Women’s Coalition, Inc. (NPSWC), a 501 (c) 3 organization of professional women, is excited to announce the 10th annual 5K Run/Walk for Sickle Cell. This will be a hybrid run/walk consisting of an in-person and virtual 5k run/walk taking place March 13, 2027. The virtual participants must submit their timing information by end of the day on March 13th. “Why Sickle Cell?” Simple. SCD is a devastating blood disease affecting millions worldwide. Greater than 100,000 are here in America. Each year, in NC about 120 infants are born with sickle cell disease and 4,000 infants are born with sickle cell trait or related trait SCD affects more than 5,000 patients and families in North Carolina. The disease occurs in about 1 of every 365 African American births and about 1 out of every 16,300 Hispanic-American births. In addition, people with SCD have less access to comprehensive care than people with many other genetic disorders. That is why we plan to use the money in our local communities. Together we will assist with treatment, transportation and the expense of other daily challenges that come with battling Sickle Cell. Your involvement will help highlight the importance of a community working together to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Neuse River Bridge Run helps bridge gaps in our community! Adults and children, lace up your running shoes for fun, exercise and a worthy cause! For over 20 years, the Neuse River Bridge Run (NRBR) has been uniting runners, walkers, volunteers and sponsors - all to support five important non-profit organizations in our community. The NRBR follows routes over bridges, through historic neighborhoods, and through downtown New Bern. We offer four events, a 1/2 Marathon, at 10K, a 5K, and the SuperKids Fun Run. In addition to the 4 in-person races the NRBR will continue to offer all four options as virtual events for 2026.   Our mission is to serve the community by promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. All five organizations are committed to working together to manage this event resulting in great benefits to our communities.
